TS3.exe problems

Post by xCrisisAvertedx on Sat 06 Apr 2013, 22:36

While downloading both The Sims 3 and the Sims 3 University Life, I had the same problem. While trying to copy the TS3.exe into the game bin, a information popup would appear and told me there wasn't enough room on the disc to copy it over. I was wondering if I was doing anything wrong? I can't figure out what i'm doing. I'm following the directions, but it happened on both games. When I look to see how much room are on both, it says it has 0 bytes remaining.

Do you have any suggestions?

Are you talking about applying the crack?
Then you need to copy the file to your computer, into the Program Files folder as instructed.
You can't seriously have run out of memory on your hard disk?!

Please take a screenshot of where you're trying to place the files.

Hello,

You're copying to the wrong folder. Please unmount everything related to The Sims 3 and do as follows to apply the crack correctly:

Open the "# Crack" folder in the .rar file you downloaded and then copy + paste (or drag & drop) the "TS3.exe" file in there to exactly: C:\Program Files (x86)\Electronic Arts\The Sims 3\Game\Bin (Default installation location) and REPLACE it by the existing one.
The game should work fine now, good luck!

Hello,

By the way, you need AT LEAST one of the following expansions to get the fix working: 70s, 80s, & 90s Stuff, Seasons, Supernatural, Diesel Stuff, Katy Perry’s Sweet Treats, Showtime, Master Suite Stuff, Pets, Town Life Stuff, Generations.

And I assume you really have "enough space" on your Main hard drive ? Again, we're talking about the hard-drive with the name "C:" (in Windows). And do not use the cracks that come with the base game or the expansions - only use the files from the "Ultimate fix".

Maybe turning off your anti-virus software, or adding the filepath Admin showed you above to the "exceptions" of the anti-virus program helps too. Who knows what the modern ones of those are capable of (probably capable of everything but helping against virusses).

I ended up getting everything figured out, but now, even after redownloading and reapplying the ultimate fix, i'm still getting the error telling me I need to insert the university life disc.

I have the following expansions: University Life, Pets, Supernatural, and Generations.

I followed the instructions to a t, and everything works up until I try and play the game. Then it gives me the error. If you need me to take screen shots, let me know.

Hello again,

I can imagine that the following may be difficult, but you might want to consider this here: http://simswiki.info/wiki.php?title=Game_Help:TS3_Uninstall

This article is about un-installing The Sims 3 and its expansions. Read it very carefully! And I recommend deleting the registry keys manually, by the way
Wink. And then you start over again with installing.

I also had some users on here who swore they correctly applied the "Ultimate fix", but still got the "Insert disc" prompt. I told them to do a clean un-install of it all, and it usually worked out.

Whatever you decide to do, good luck!

I tried that. And I can now get past the launcher, but when I go to the title screen to choose what location and create a new family it says the same thing. "please insert the Sims 3 University Life disc". I've mounted everything and then unmounted and tried pretty much everything. And I can't get it to work. If I have to uninstall everything again, I think i'm going to cry. I'm sorry if i'm bugging you guys. Normally i'm really good with these things. I just really want to play and I can't figure it out. :/

WhatDidUJustCallMe?

By the way: you don't have the so-called "No-CD" mod installed, do you ? If yes, take it out.

Otherwise, did you un-install the way I showed you above - in the link ?

To make things a little bit easier, here's how I would try to re-install afterwards:

1) Install base game
2) Use manual patch
3) Now install all expansions you want/you need in order to get the Ultimate fix to work
4) Patch again !!
5) Apply the Ultimate fix

And yes, you might indeed post a screenshot of where you put the #crack
Wink.

//EDIT

Some Helpers suggest to restart the computer after un-installing the whole thing, so you might try that too, of course.

Thanks. I'll try that. :3

//Helper Edit//
Still nothing. I reapplied the patch after every game downloaded. Nothing. I'm just irritated and tired of trying to get it to work. It's obviously just my computer hating me.

You still haven't posted a screenshot of where you're trying to put the crack. That could help out a lot.

i'm still trying things. If it doesn't work this time around, i'll post a screenshot. I'm seeing if it'll work with just one expansion. It might just be my computer not liking all the downloads. And sorry about the double post. Didn't think about it.

It actually worked! Only one expansion at the same time, which sucks, but I can actually play now. Although the game is super slow... But still. <3 Thanks for all your help!

For slow game, try Game Booster from Iobit. This might help! Wink
