The Sims 3 Lag HELP!

Post by nbladwnt on Tue 04 Jun 2013, 11:44

i installed the sims 3 just last week, i haven't played it yet nor make a new household. but i already installed some CC, haven't even reach 100 yet. when i entered the sims 3, the first loading screen okay. but when entering the town it starts lagging i need almost like 20 minutes to reach the town.

then in CAS, it starts lagging too, when i slide the body sliders and all the other slides. or when i entered the face part, hair part, and clothes part. it took 5 minutes, even when entering the everyday, formal, swimsuit, dress, etc. and the cursor works fine, no lag, or sudden stops.

i haven't create a new household or play it 'till now. Sad please help

For the lag, get a better PC. Sorry, there are no miraculous solutions for this.

For the slow loading, remove some custom content... and get a better PC. Mine takes little over two minutes to load and I have quite a lot of CC, removing it makes the game load in about 30 seconds give or take.

I have like 218 CCs on my laptop and my game takes 10 minutes or so to load to a neighborhood. In CAS, it only takes a minute or two then a few seconds for loading each component (hair, eyebrows, outfits, etc). My laptop has 2.7GB RAM and only 2.20 GHz.

So, I'm guessing it is with your PC's specs that needs some work. I definitely need some laptop upgrade.

Try to use GameBooster from IObit! It might help! Wink

This is technically correct, however, apart from the computer's performance, some other in-game factors play an important role in the lagging. This can include the size of your hometown (one example: the "Union Cove" world), the size of your house, memories/opportunities of your sim population in the town, and of course so-called "Bad CC" and incompatible mods.

Hello,

OK, what kind of CC are you using ? And: what is their "file format" - are they ".sims3packs" or ".packages" ?
But try this here first: go to My documents/Electronic Arts and rename the folder "The Sims 3" in any way you like (for example: "The Sims 3_"). Start up the game, and for now make a NEW savegame (don't worry, your old save is still in the renamed Sims 3 folder).

Do you realise any differences ? If yes, then we can start putting back in your "old things" (from "The Sims 3_") one by one into the newly created folder ("The Sims 3"). You probably don't want to lose your old savegame and some of your CC, do you ?
Wink

If I'm not here later in the day, you can ask another Helper to guide you through the process of putting things back in; the other Helpers are familiar with this too.

Good luck for now !

OK, then go on renaming that "Sims 3 folder" like I showed you above, and then play on for a while Wink.

No no, don't move anything. Rename the folder: go to Documents\Electronic Arts and rename "The Sims 3" to "The Sims 3_".
Then start your game. Does it still lag?
