No lemon tree, eggplant, dormancy during all seasons, zombies, crashing

Post by publicmisc on Sun 16 Jun 2013, 03:16

I posted to someone else's thread that was resolved for them but not for me so hope it is okay to start a new topic as I'm not getting any responses.

COMPLETE FRESH INSTALL - MANY TIMES. CCmerge is in dcbackup. Have Al Fresco Market installed.  Tried Monte Vista and other worlds, currently trying Sunlit Tides. Game KEEPS crashing after less than 20 minutes of game play EVERY single time. I am constantly losing all my work. No mods (tried them on other installs and didn't help.) No CC.
Running Windows 7 64bit, Intel Core Duo, 4g Ram, Mobile Intel 4 - all Sims 3 games installed. Have everything set to low as far as detail, etc. Latest updates and fixes...installed according to your instructions.  Did the DEP or whatever it is called.

Here are the issues:
Al Fresco Market - Finally got tables & stands to show up but NO LEMONS and NO EGGPLANT in store, market, etc. even though it has been there for some time.  I can do auto-soil with cheat but it just shows something planted and a hand to move it in live mode but doesn't grow and not able to do anything with it. I've tried even having children in the household of different ages through teens and that didn't help either.

Game keeps crashing randomly in less than 20 minute increments causing me to continually lose all my work. During this it just freezes. I can't do anything. I have to click ctrl-alt-delete and then it brings up that the game is not working and has to close or something like that. Don't recall the exact error message.  I checked inside of Event Viewer and it says something to do with the directx so tried uninstalling, reinstalling, etc.  Still doesn't work.

Can't get rid of zombies despite cheat. I've even tried changing moon settings - they keep killing my garden.  Tried getting a locking gate but it no longer gives me the option of who to lock in or out.

With and without Winter option, my plants keep going into hibernation during spring, summer, etc. Very frustrating because all my plants are perfect and when I'm able to harvest it seems to be a very small window.

I did read some where that because I have a 64bit system that even though I have 4gigs of ram that the dynamic video needs to be changed and of course, cannot.  Don't know if that makes any difference.  There was a place I went to on the internet to see if my system has correct requirements and the dynamic video fails each time.  So what am I supposed to do since I have a HP laptop with duo core intel?  I'm guessing the video is integrated and that there is nothing I can do.

Advice needed!  Smile

Hello,

First of all, many users seem to have problems when they are trying to play that game on a laptop computer. But let's consider a few other things, still:

1) http://games4theworld.bestgoo.com/t857-the-sims-3-crashes-freezes-to-desktop-fix-updated-on-29-09-2012
Have you already tried the "4 GB patch" ? Keep in mind that you have to patch the "TS3W.exe" in C:\Program files(x86)\Electronic Arts\The Sims 3\Game\Bin.

You could also have a look at this here: http://windows.microsoft.com/en-my/windows-vista/change-the-size-of-virtual-memory

At "maximum size" try putting in the double amount of your RAM - maybe that can help a bit too.

2) Go to
C:\Program files(x86)\Electronic Arts\The Sims 3\Game\Bin. Right-click on the TS3W.exe and select "Run as administrator". Also, you can right-click on it and go to "Properties". Then go to the "compatibility"-tab and select "Run in compatibility mode - Windows XP Service Pack 3". Then start the game and play on for a while.

3) I'm not sure about the Al Fresco Market, but the first thing that would come to my mind is that you probably need new store fixes. I'm sure that after the new G4TW download-account re-opens, new store fixes will become available too.

4) About the zombies: http://games4theworld.bestgoo.com/t6948-how-to-get-rid-of-too-many-zombies-in-your-town
Do you mean that this solution with the cheat didn't work for you ? Have you also looked at the link that the Admin posted there (to "ModtheSims") ?
I'm also surprised that you seemingly can't choose the option at the doorgate to lock out others...

5) Go to My Documents/Electronic Arts/The Sims 3 and delete the following things:

-CASPartCache.package
-compositorCache.package
-scriptCache.package
-simCompositorCache.package
-socialCache.package
-plus the contents of the folders "WorldCaches" & "Thumbnails"

Start the game after that and see if this changed anything - with the zombies or the problems with the door locking. Also, AFTER EVERY CRASH, go to
My Documents/Electronic Arts/The Sims 3 and delete the contents of the folder "Currentgame.sims3".

6) If cache deleting doesn't help, go to
My Documents/Electronic Arts and rename the folder "The Sims 3" (for example like this: "The Sims 3_"). This will basically "deactivate" all your savefiles, cache, and any custom content/mods installed. Now start a completely new savegame and play on for a while. See if this changed anything.

7) You might also want to give the "NRAAS ErrorTrap" and "NRAAS Overwatch" a try (download and install these mods) - maybe they can help reduce the crashing.

OK, so far these are my thoughts.

Post by publicmisc on Tue 18 Jun 2013, 06:34

I've done all the suggestions except the mods - guess that will be next as my game continues to crash randomly.  UGH!  The gate, I discovered locks after you get pets but not before...I adopted a dog and it then began to work.  Don't know about zombies yet because the game never worked long enough for anything really to happen.

This game didn't used to crash all the time so not sure what is going on now.  And I lost the Al Fresco setup...back to just tables and not stands.  UGH

//EDIT

I'm so frustrated.  I have done a complete reinstall many times and used the fixed, etc.  No CC's and No Mods.  Tried the 4GB Patch.  DEP.  Tried changing the paging size of my ram.  I have done a sims 3 reset.  Have all detail and audio to low.  Tried windowed and full screen.  Did the compatibility mode.

Tried deleting:

CASPartCache.package
-compositorCache.package
-scriptCache.package
-simCompositorCache.package
-socialCache.package
-plus the contents of the folders "WorldCaches" & "Thumbnails"

after every crash have deleted the currentgame.sims3

Tried various mods to get things to work or to stop crashing and that didn't work either.

Used to be the game would play but had problems with zombies despite cheat and never had any lemon trees or eggplant with Al Fresco Market.  The plants kept going into dormancy no matter what the season.

But now it crashes before I can even play.  It will look like it's going to load to the game play but right exactly at that point...it crashes.  It also keeps asking me to update store patch.  I have all of the SIMS 3 expansions, games, etc.  The only store item is the Al Fresco Market.

Hello,

What do you mean by that ? Do you mean you have renamed the folder "The Sims 3" (in My documents/Electronic Arts) like I explained above ?
If not, please do this now. Even if you don't have any mods/CC, something might be wrong with your savefiles.

Yes, I have done that...renamed it The Sims 3 OLD and now, the game crashes before the game even begins to play....literally, right after all the waiting as it loads and in the next second it looks like the game is going to begin to play...but instead crashes.

EA told me to not install several of the expansions because with windows 7 you have to have a cpu of 2.4 and I only have 2.0 duo.  They said also that the game is not compatible with Mobile Intel 4.  My laptop is only 3 years old and I actually purchased all the games...every single one from Walmart and now all that money is down the drain.  I used to at least be able to play the game even though there were some glitches.  UGH!

I am really stunned about the persistence of that problem, but OK.

From what I understand, your Sims 3 game worked at one point in the past. So, did you change anything about your game and/or your computer BEFORE all of this happened ?

If you feel that there might be problems with your graphics card: did you make sure to have the latest driver updates of it ?

Re: No lemon tree, eggplant, dormancy during all seasons, zombies, crashing

Post by publicmisc on Wed 19 Jun 2013, 04:51

I reinstalled my video drivers today in the event that some how they were messed up.  Yes, my game was working but with issues with dormant plants, zombies, etc. but not a lot of crashing.  Then it slowly started crashing more and quite often.  But, once I did the 4gig patch and changed ram setting it crashed without fully loading.  I tried to go back to what it was before hand but still won't load.  So frustrating.  I'm thinking I will remove supernatural and sweet treats as I find them kind of annoying anyway.  I liked the witches and all of that but don't like the vampires and zombies.  Found sweet treats to be rather too childish for me.  But, University and Seasons seems like it made it start glitching really bad but like both of them.  Seasons I like because of the plants and because I can have it rain and not have to use sprinklers but seems to cause dormancy to the plants.

EA told me that the games are not compatible with laptops only desktops even if the desktops aren't up to par.  That seems so weird and I think most of us don't use desktops anymore so it leaves out a huge market that would like to be able to play the game.

Hello,

You mean these problems started after installing Seasons/University ?

OK, one thing you could still try maybe is this: un-install again everything, but when you re-install don't use the latest patch. This means you have to google for older patches, for example the 1.38 patch (the patch at the time of "Supernatural"). Only use this older patch in the process of re-installing then.

Of course, you can't install Seasons and Supernatural with this patch, but there is a (small ?) chance that this could help.

But I have to admit that this would be a big surprise Crying or Very sad.

My sister actually used to play that game with an HP laptop (Pavillion dv5) bought 3 or 4 years ago; while I can't recall the exact system specs of that laptop, it was relatively strong at the time it was bought. And she played that game with no problems whatsoever.

//EDIT

You might also try re-installing just the base game - and see if that works. If yes, you can proceed with other expansions (one at a time)...

Re: No lemon tree, eggplant, dormancy during all seasons, zombies, crashing

Post by publicmisc on Sun 23 Jun 2013, 00:11

Okay, my game now seems to run without crashing.  YEAH!  I think I had corrupted video drivers which is weird.  Anyway, deleted and put in the new drivers and it seems to be loading and running; although, haven't played the game long enough to see if it will go forever without crashing.

Still not able to get lemon tree & Eggplant from the Al Fresco market despite uninstall and reinstalling and trying various market downloads.  Right now, can't even get the stands to show up...just get the blank tables.  Even when I was able to get the stands before, I wasn't able to get the lemons and eggplant which is bugging me because it seems the main interest in my game play is the perfect garden.  I'm 43 years old, what can I say, I love to garden.  I also like decorating but quickly learned in this game that when you decorate it slows the game down and eventually makes it crash.  I like colorful homes.  Wink  Any clue how to get the lemon tree and eggplant to work?  Even if I use the buydebug, while they show up there, when I plant them and go into live mode they do nothing.  I get a hand when I scroll over them and can literally move them around.

And the plants are still going into dormancy during all seasons.  How do I stop that?

Now, here's  weird question...After installing everything and having the previous fix, I checked for updates and of course it said new 1.55 update.  So, I installed it and before applying the full fix...did all the expansions, etc. like I was supposed to.  Before applying the final crack there was 1.22 update or something like that which I was not able to do.  During that time, of course, at the bottom of the launcher, most of the games were greyed out.  Since I couldn't do the 1.22 update or whatever it was, I went ahead and applied the 1.55 fix crack.  Then when I checked for update, it says it is up-to-date.  Is this causing problems?  OR is this the way it is supposed to be?

Indeed, it looks weird, but I suspect there shouldn't be any problems with that; of course, the only way of knowing it would be for you to try it.

If you applied the 1.55 patch and then the Ultimate fix, then all should be fine (normally at least).

By the way: I recommend NOT to update with the launcher. Always use the big "manual super-patch".

Re: No lemon tree, eggplant, dormancy during all seasons, zombies, crashing

Post by publicmisc on Sun 23 Jun 2013, 20:36

Okay, it was working great for a while!  Okay, so here are the combination of things that seemed to have worked.

1.  Removed video drivers and reinstalled them...don't use default but make sure they are according to your system from their website.  (I put this out there for those who are not tech junkies which I am but obviously, when it comes to games, I have no clue.)

2.  Updated to 1.55 update and matching fix.

3.  Installed Awesome Mod and Nraas_Overwatch.package

4.  Removed from game and uninstalled the Al Fresco Market then reinstalled.

I had lemon trees and purple eggplant and was able to save a few times but then it ended up crashing again.  One time while gardening and another time when I tried going to the create-a-household to make-over a plant sim; however, it would never load into the create-a-sim just sat there for about 45 minutes until I did a hard shutdown.  Uninstalled and reinstalled the video drivers again because it had the same error code in Administrative Events.  Didn't help this time around.

Back to no longer having eggplant and lemon tree.

Constantly get errors from Overwatch when it comes to idle sims, routing, etc.  That goes on and on and is annoying.  Lots of people are moving away.  Haha

Any idea when the awesome mod will be updated as that was a great mod but doesn't work at all anymore.

Should I put store content in via launcher or package file?  And if in package file it goes into collections/user or under mods/packages? And if I put it all in, will it slow the game?

Thank you so much for all those attempting to help me!!!  It means a lot to me.
