The Sims 3 CAS Crashesh

Post by Dzemo on Fri 28 Jun 2013, 00:31

Okay, so after updating the game to 1.55 and installing Island Paradise, game keeps crashing when I go into Create A Sim. Sometimes it crashes right away, and sometimes after working on a Sim for some time. I installed some CustomContent Clothes, but it did this before that as well, but not so often. Does it do this to anyone else to?

Does this to me as well. About 10 minutes into playing, it crashes. I have to press ctrl-alt-delete to get out of it, and thats when i see the window that says 'the sims  has stopped working' and i end up losing all my game progress. ive deleting the sims  folder in documents>electronic arts>the sims 3.... still is crashing.

im not even using island paradise, im using university life and pets.... i think it has something to do with the new fix for update 1.55, because this did not happen before.

I think you might be right, some people say that after the new update, their game has been a "total disaster"...

That still shouldn't cause any crashes or problems in the game, it has to be something else.

Yes, I do. I have some mods for the dragon valley fixs, the NoIntro and NoSparkles mods, and a few NRaas mods too. I've been thinking of removing the NRaas mods, as the game has become really laggy after adding them.

Go to Documents\Electronic Arts\The Sims 3, and move your Mods folder to the desktop.
If that fixes your problem, check which mods are out of date and delete the corresponding .package files...

I removed my mods, and still, halfway through creating my sim, the game stopped working again...

I have the same problem, and the cause of it is "Graphic Device(s) Not Found In Database", I have a screen shot of it here:

Anybody know how to fix this? It only started happening after downloading patch 1.55 and Island Paradise.

Ok, the same old method: Rename your sims 3 folder in the document and restart your game, and then try putting the mods into the new Sims 3 folder one by one and test whether which one causes the problem.

As I said, the mods are not the reason why the game is crashing, it's something else

You might want to tell us what mods of NRAAS you have. Otherwise we can't tell you which can be safely removed.

@all others here: yes, I very often suggest to "rename" that folder, but this doesn't help in all cases; the issue can be a bit more complex. Wink  If you changed some "internal functions" of the game with mods, like NRAAS Story progression or NRAAS Relativity, and you simply "remove the mods" or "rename the Sims 3 folder", then this is most likely not enough, as the game "remembers" these mods even if they are removed - which causes crashings and maybe more serious problems too.

In some cases, you have to "deactivate" these mods in the game, at the city hall. After deactivating them, you can safely remove the mods.

And again: you should always read the descriptions of the mods/CC you are downloading; even if it takes some time initially, it can save you a lot of trouble at a later point.

//EDIT

In some cases, you can even have conflicts of mods: either you can't have two or more particular mods installed at the same time, or if you install a certain mod, you ALSO need another particular mod; etc.

//EDIT2

If you do have such a "conflict of mods" I just described, then the method with "removing the mods folder and putting the mods back in one-by-one" won't work either...there is basically no other way here than to inform yourselves about the peculiarities of your mods beforehand.

Well, I moved The Sims 3 folder to another location, and after that launched the game, and the folder created itself fresh as it would. So, I played the game with no mods, no custom content or anything, and I got through Create a Sim without any issues..

Hello,

Ok now put back your cc to see if you remain problem-free, then add the mods and test again, after having made sure they're not outdated.

Well, I didn't move all CC, I only installed some new ones, and most of them were clothes.. then when I was in the middle of creating a sim, I clicked on 'Everyday' wear, and it was loading, then the screen froze, and as always... Sims 3 stopped working.

I have to ask this: did you use the crack that was included in the expansion, or the one from the "#crack" folder in the Ultimate fix ?

If you haven't done so already, use the crack from the fix.

I used the Crack from the Expansion pack I downloaded from this site. I'll try and use the fix crack now.
