Hello,

Open C:\Program Files\Electronic Arts\The Sims3\Game\Bin\Sims3.ini and change the memoryusagelimit to a higher value. Be aware of the number of digits. Have you waited for some time after launching The Sims 3? Since I also get the black screen when I open The Sims 3. But you have to wait.

The Memoryusagelimit is now in 20000000 which is 20GB(20000000MB) that is more than enough, isn't it?

Hello,

It means 2GB (20000000 kB) not 20 GB. You can try to raise the value for 10000000 kB.

Hello,

It should be half of your pc's RAM or your RAM minus 1GB.

Hello,
Your problem may be caused by this reason: the game refuses to work in fullscreen. Therefore try the following steps.

1. Go to C:\Documents and Settings\your name\My Documents\Electronic Arts\The Sims 3

2. Open the Options.ini file

3. Look for the line that says "fullscreen = 1", then change the 1 to a 0

Hello,

Maybe the method of changing the value of fullscreen does work.

Open up the NVIDIA Control panel and go to the "Display" tab. That's where you get the options to e.g. set the resolution of your screen.

And you might ask Microsoft why they introduced the "Data Execution Prevention" Wink. They probably wanted to try to fight virusses - but this DEP thing seems to be more of a liability than anything else.

It still doesn't work... It works after a few tries, but not the first time..
I tried a few things in the guide to make it working but still no result making it work the first time...

Can i remove the rar files from the games? Like the s3, late night etc. just the normal RAR's?

//EDIT

Hello,

I am sure we can find a solution to fix the problem. Can we have a Teamviewer meeting to check this out?

I'd like to know exactly what your game is doing now. Is it giving you a black screen, then crashing, are there any errors, have you been able to play for a long time at all, etc.? How often it works, when it doesn't work, all things about it that may be helpful. (I don't want to just assume your problem has stayed exactly the same after doing everything Wink )

It gives no errors in the first place. Second, it only works at the second start-up. The first time it freezes with the EA logo coming up. That's about it.

A theoretical possibility could be the following: lower down the resolution of your computer screen, to the same resolution as in the game (1024 x 768). If that doesn't work I don't have another explanation for that.

As long as your game runs fine though, I would take it as an annoyance, and play on.

Well lowering the screen solution doesn't fix the problem. If there are still options open let me know, if it can't be fixed anymore i'll carry on with the annoyance. Really thank you for your help Carlos G, invalidusername, cat2006house and Shamrock. You people have been a big help.
