very long time to start launcher

Post by rockin on Mon 01 Jul 2013, 22:41

i started an new topic after this one, because it's a different subject.
http://games4theworld.bestgoo.com/t12454-game-stopes-and-pc-freeze-almost-always#89738
as i said there, it takes me 3 to 4 minutes until the launcher appears.
i read some articles about slow loading problem.
most of them was about game loading time, not launcher.
one suggestion was to delete all in dcbackup folder, other to do it with downloads folder.
i tried by empty each time one of those two folders (put the files in other folder on desktop) . i didn't felt any noticeable improvement in game loading time so i put it back.

regarding the launcher start time problem, one of the suggestions was to use the "TS3.exe" file, directly from the game bin, to start the game without using the launcher.
this starts the game immediately and i actually copied this .exe and use it from the desktop.
until I'll find better solution for launcher starting time, I'm gonna use it this way.
my question is if i'm missing something in the game by starting this way ?

Hello,

Please rename the folder: C:\Users\user\Documents\Electronic Arts\The Sims 3. I am not sure, but it may be your mods or CC causing problems.

Hello,

Sorry if I confuse you, it's The Sims 3 folder in My Documents.

Re: very long time to start launcher

it worked with the launcher. it opened fast.
but it made problem with the game since it created a new 'the sims3' folder in my doc/ea, which it's folders like  saves, downloads etc. were empty, so the game ( in main menu) was without any of the worlds we created .
i think that when you open the game it takes all the info from the sims 3 folder and don't recognize other named folder.

Hello,

You can actually move the contents of the old Saves and Downloads folders to the new folders. But you should test which CC caused this issue by moving them one by one and test the game.

i'm not sure about it, couse as i said, i think the game must see a folder named 'the sims 3' and i believe it takes all from there.
as you said, it must be something in one of the folders in the sims 3 folder in my documents, but it's kind of p.i.t.a to find it...
is there any harm to start the game from ts3.exe ?

btw, is there a deference between store content (which i downloaded from mediafire) and cc( custom content)?
because i didn't create any content by my self.

Hello,

Sorry if I confuse you again Facepalm , I mean you can move the Saves from your renamed folder to the new folder generated by The Sims 3 application. There is of course no harm to start the game from TS3W.exe. Custom content includes official store content (issued by EA, uploaded to Mediafire account) and third-party custom content.

I'll try to do it,  it not only saves but also downloads and other folders there.
maybe I'll try to copy one by one those folders content  to the new folder and see which of them makes the problem.

o.k.
i made a sezific check by excluding each time one of the folders content in the sims 3 folder .
found that the folder that makes the launcher problem is - DCCache.
with all other folders the launcher and game starts fast.
but without the dccache folder content, some of the worlds in my game (in the main menu) disappeared.
the thing is that this folder content right now 26 items/files.
can someone point me to one that known as suspicious  , or do i have to try each of them, i mean with and without.

edit:
i found that the file, inside DCCache folder, that make my launcher problems called : dcdb4.dbc.
without it the launcher opens fast, but as i said above, I'm missing 9 worlds in main menu.
with this folder i get back all the worlds but it takes the launcher to open about 3 to 4 minutes.
what should i do ?

Hello,

Are these worlds custom content? Or the worlds that come with the expansion packs? Since .dbc file is a file for custom content.

it can be cc.
the worlds that missing when dcdb4 is outside, are:
aurora skies, barnacle bay, hidden springs, lucky palms, lunar lakes, monte vista, paris, riverview, sunlit tides.
some of them we used and build lot of things in it, others we didn't use yet.

i can try to remove each time one of those worlds and see what happens, but only the one we didn't used, because I'm afraid to loose tings if removing the others.

Hello,

These are worlds that comes from The Sims 3 store/The Sims 3 exchange. There is no way you can get them except reinstalling them thorugh launcher.

i see.
so i guess i'll have to wait until games4theworld will send us a new mediafire account, as they said they'll do.
then i can try to remove and reinstall those words.
i meanwhile we gonna play like it is.
do you know if i remove and reinstall one of the worlds we already build stuff inside, and then bring back all the saves etc., will it bring back the things we build?

Hello,

Usually Directioners don't like Taylor Swift because she broke up with Harry Styles. Your daughter is one of the exceptions.

yes, you are right.
I'd say i found a 'direction' what to check later.
I'm planning to isolate each custom world by removing it, and see which one makes the problem.  and then check if one of the store items in it is the cause.
we got an new email from admin. about kind of medifire substitute, so I'll can to download again the world i removed.
in a meanwhile thank you very much for your help.
