Laptop Crash from Overheating?

Post by texasteahc on Wed 03 Jul 2013, 21:18

FUU!
Whenever I play, it varies, anywhere from 15 minutes to an hour or two, I get a black screen and my Samsung Laptop freezes up.

This is the error I get.

Problem signature:
  Problem Event Name:    BlueScreen
  OS Version:    6.1.7601.2.1.0.768.3
  Locale ID:    1033

Additional information about the problem:
  BCCode:    116
  BCP1:    FFFFFA80039BF010
  BCP2:    FFFFF88005861290
  BCP3:    0000000000000000
  BCP4:    000000000000000D
  OS Version:    6_1_7601
  Service Pack:    1_0
  Product:    768_1

Files that help describe the problem:
  C:\Windows\Minidump\070313-37409-01.dmp
  C:\Users\Mary\AppData\Local\Temp\WER-97110-0.sysdata.xml

I also have something called Easy SpeedUp Manager on my Laptop, and I was reading about it - apparently it speeds up or slows down the CPU based on what you're doing.

I don't know what the problem is, but it's getting really frustrating having my laptop crash whenever I play the Sims3.
I know it has something to do with a part in the system overheating - I JUST HOPE I CAN FIX IT!

PLEASE, PLEASE! Thank you!

///edit ;

The specs are as followed;

Graphics card: Intel HD
System memory runs @ 4GB DDR3
Windows 7 64-bit

Hello,

It could be overheating. What kind of surface are you using it on? It may help to elevate it a little so there's some room between the laptop and the surface. You could use 4 clothespins for example, one under each corner. If that's not enough, there are coolingpads.
Can you share the contents of the minidump file? It may be helpful.

I don't trust myself going into the command prompt to figure it out.
It seems to be a video card failure?

A little googling has told me it's being used beyond it's capabilities? Which is news to me. Ha. So, I'm guessing the Sims is considered a graphics hoarder. SO, what can I do? :{

Hello,

Looks like it could be the driver, go to your cards' manufacturers' website to see if you need new drivers.

Okay, I will let you know what happens! :DI'm getting it off of their website, maybe it was out of date? I tried to download via Windows a few weeks ago, but to no avail - it was up to date. I'll try here on Intel's website and see if that helps any.

//EDIT

Yeah, the driver update did nothing.

Hello,

Do you have the same problem when using other software or games ? Or does this only happen with The Sims 3 ?
