Some bugs

Post by nick_123 on Mon 04 Jul 2011, 23:09

I have a question about bugs, I would like to know if these are from EA or if I am the only one experiencing them. One of them is that when my sims go on vacation, I have to empty the family inventory, if not, they don't come back with the stuff the buy. Before installing Generations that didn't happen to me. Another bug that really pisses me off is when my sims read the newspaper. They read about 2 articles and they miss the part when they are supposed to read about hotspots. They just drop it. Have hotspots disappeared? Gossiping and visiting all the lots doesn't help. Is there a fix for this? After I installed Generations hotspots kept existing for a while, but then they just vanished. Nobody else is experiencing this?

Hello,

The first thing you talk about; it's a known bug. I do think it's from EA's side.
You know the temporary fix, right? (Empty inventory before going on vacation)

I don't know about the other ones, they might be bugs as well. Try doing some Google research on them and tell us if you have more info.

Okay I did some research and people were having this issue where newspaper didn't show hotspots, or where hotspots didn't exist by the time Late Night was released. Apparently it was fixed but I it seems it has returned with the new patch. Some people say Overwatch may help but others say it doesn't. Someone said the bug can be fixed with the Story Progression Mod, I don't have this mod and neither know how it works, and how could solve this. I've trying to download it but can't find it. Maybe someone has it?

Edit: Just tried with Overwatch, didn't work. Apparently hotspots aren't spawning.

Which story progressionmod are you looking for? I've been running the latest Nraas myself, without any problems. Follow this link to get it: http://www.the-isz.com/nraas/index.php?topic=929.0

How does it work? Has an option related to hotspots?

Ok I've decided to do some reading on this problem. I'm a family gal myself, I checked out the Late Night features obviously back when it was new, but I always find myself more content playing a family/family life so I hadn't even noticed that hotspots weren't showing up. Here's what I'm reading from others who're having this problem:
This may have to do with your pc, if its old(er) try running your game on the lowest settings. But if you've had hotspots before, I can't imagine this suddenly being the case.
I've seen people report that hotspots show up in new towns, but not the ones they have been playing for a while. Others report that they're not getting hotspots at all.
I've seen people report that hotspots stopped showing up when they turned on EA storyprogression and/or aging. If that is the case, using Nraas could help since it turns of EA progression and turns on its own. I'd have to start my game to see if it has any hot spot related options, as there are so many, going through the list from Nraas to find any is dreadful. I'll get back to you on this.
It seems likely that this is a bug related to Generations expansionpack and that it will be fixed with a patch.

Edit: After testing a new Bridgeport I conclude that the storyprogressionmod I'm using has no effect on the appearance of hotspots. I therefore think its an EA bug that ought to be fixed with a future patch!

Well that really helped! Thank you so much! I am from the group who had hotspots before Generations, but after installing it they never resetted. I started a new game and they never appeared, but venues seem to have more sims, at least where my sim goes. After my sim arrives, about 6 or 8 sims come later. It looks I'll just have to wait until the next patch comes out.
