Can not load saved game

Post by Jyan13524 on Sat 28 Sep 2013, 06:04

i played The sims 3 pets and saved it last night. But when i want to play it today, it comes out a message "A serious error while loading 'Appaloosa Plain.sims3'.It is strongly recommended that you restart your application." After i restart, still the same. Can anyone help?

I've had a similar problem in the past but it corrected itself or worked right after I took the step(s) below.

Did you shut down the game completely and delete the cache files from your Sims 3 folder?  Sometimes deleting these cache files fix whatever is messing up the game.

scriptCache.package
compositorCache.package
simCompositorCache.package
CASPartCache.package
socialCache.package

If that doesn't work for you, you might want to see if the backup save loads.  I'd suggest adding a folder to your desktop to hold the original save while you rename the backup by removing the .backup from the end of the file name.  So frustrating, but addicting this game is.

I tried looking for those cache packages, but can't find any of them. only things like

Sunset Valley.objectCache

Should i delete those?

If you're having trouble finding the cache files, you can enter the file names in your computer documents search and they should come up for you.

On a PC, this is the path I use.  Computer>Documents>My Documents>Electronic Arts>The Sims 3

Click on The Sims 3 and you should see a list of files/folders in the right handed window (Documents Library).  The cache files listed above are in this list.  Right click on them and select delete.  They will regenerate naturally and seem to stay at 1 KB for me unless I use features connected to those files.

Edit to add: I think that the SunsetValley objects would be the objects connected to the world.  I've safely deleted world cache files in the past but only after uninstalling a world.  MAC users should never delete world cache files.
