Materializing materials. [SOLVED]

Post by dazedandconfused on Sat 05 Oct 2013, 21:55

Since I installed a few pieces of CC, including a couple of houses, I can play the game fine but the minute I want to change the pattern of anything in Create A Style, I get the "materialising materials" error.

I understand that this happens when patterns have been converted to package files. I didn't download any patterns and everything that I did download was a sims3pack file.

I use CC magic and usually that brings up files that will give me the error when I rebuild but it isn't this time. I've tried it in a new save and still get the error. I've removed both the package and sims3pack folders from the CC Magic folder and I've deleted everything I should within the sims 3 folder in documents (such as cache files and DCCache folder etc etc).

I've also removed my library folder, where my houses are.

Still I'm getting this error Help

Hello,

Good that you mention using CCmagic, because that program converts your sims3packs to package files. You´ll have to remove the patterns from ccmagic and, if you want to install them, use the launcher in stead.

Sorry, I should have mentioned that I install patterns and houses that are in sims3pack format from the launcher - I don't put those in via CC Magic.

But, like I said, even after removing EVERYTHING, I was still getting the error.

I've just taken my electronic arts folder out of my documents and put it on the desktop, started the game and it's generated a new EA folder. I tried it then and it didn't give me the error.

I put my "options" file and my screenshots folder into the newly generated EA folder and started the game - it gave me the materialising materials error.

I'm now trying it with my screenshots folder taken back out. If that doesn't work, I'll try it with my "options" file out.

I haven't tried putting my CC back in and won't until I stop getting the error. When I stop getting the error, I'll put in so many files at a time so it's easier to weed out any that will cause a problem.

Okay, so like I said, I took the EA folder out of my documents and let the game generate a new one. Then I replaced each and every folder one by one, testing it in between. And it worked. All that is new is the EA folder - I haven't removed a single thing from the game.

That's odd.

Hello,

Not at all, that just means you had bad caches in the folder, and you probably didn't replace those with the old ones.
Good to hear the problem is solved.
