The Sims 3 started chrashing after installing TS3 into the future.

Post by zanjulis on Mon 28 Oct 2013, 16:03

Hello. I just installed The Sims 3 Into the Future. Started playing, everything worked perfectly, but after a couple of hours the game froze for a few seconds, then the screen went black and returned to desktop. A pop up said "The Sims 3 has stopped working". I tried to start the game again and it crashed again, this time sooner. And everytime I tried again, it chrashed sooner and sooner. I tried DEP solution first, but it didn't work. Then I tried applying The Sims 3 Ultimate fix, which I found on this very website, it didn't work either. I've never had this kind of problem with The Sims 3, until I installed Into the future expansion. Please, help. Help

If it makes any difference, I have all expansion and stuff packs except 70s, 80s&90s stuff pack and Movie stuff pack.

What happens if you rename the folder "The Sims 3" (in My Documents/Electronic Arts), into anything you like ?

Start the game then and see if the same happens.

I just tried what you suggested, and this happened: the game started, but all the saved games were gone, even the sims I had created before in "Move in Household". I quit and checked the "Electronic Arts" folder and there were not one, but two folders - the one I had renamed before and a new one, called "The Sims 3". And all the saved content was in the renamed folder. I tried deleting "The Sims 3" folder and started the game again, but the same thing happened.

This is the point why I suggested to "rename" the folder. We want to find out if the problem is caused by mods/CC, cache files or corrupt(ed) saves. Your game obviously started, so there must be something wrong within that folder. Please, rename it AGAIN and let the game create a new folder. Exit the game then. Now...

go to your old (renamed) folder, and copy the following things:

1) the folder DCCache
2) the folder Installed Worlds
3) the folder Saves

and PASTE all the stuff into your newly created "The Sims 3"-folder. Overwrite the existing files/folders. Start the game and see if that works.

So, I did what You said, and nothing has changed.
And, I didn't mention it erlier, because I didn't think it was relevant, and I also realized it just now - the game only chrashes while in Buy or Build mode after about 20 minutes. When I play in living mode, it works perfectly.

Well, that's something positive. At first, I would suggest you re-do the steps from 2 to 4 here: http://games4theworld.bestgoo.com/t1171-must-read-how-to-install-the-sims-3-correctly

Re-do these steps exactly as described.

If you look here: http://games4theworld.bestgoo.com/t857-the-sims-3-crashes-freezes-to-desktop-fix-updated-on-14-07-2013

and you look at #3, you'll see a "4GB patch". Download that, and double-click the patch. Choose the TS3W.exe in your base game location hten. Usually that's C:\Program files(x86)\Electronic Arts\The Sims 3\Game\Bin.

Let's see how this works. If it doesn't, we will have to try removing your installed .sims3packs too, I'm afraid.

Thank you sooooo much. I did everything you said and the game works perfectly! Not only does it not crash, but it also works smoother.Hammertime  It is so great that there are websites where you can ask for help if you have these kind of problems, and that people will actually help you. Again, thank you very very much.
