Sims 3 vs dell inspiron 17r 5721 i7-3517u

Post by mrspk on Fri 22 Nov 2013, 22:58

People of Games4theworld. I need help.

I have base+everything (adds+accessories).

It crashes every time I try to move in my family and play.
I tried apply newest fix, every patch, DEP, etc.

Crash Log Analyzer says it's insufficient graphic card.

As topic title says I have Dell Inspiron with AMD Radeon HD 8730M along with Intel HD Graphics 4000.

DeviceConfig says:

There is no AMD Radeon 8730M in GraphicsCards.sgr. Or even 8700 series. I tried to manually set in CCC high perfomance for Sims. Didn't work. Goddamnit this is frustrating because I have quite new machine and Sims by default is set something like between 'Low' and 'Medium' graphic settings so I think it's going only on Intel Graphics (I think same by looking at deviceconfig). And I only see only crashing. Wat.

Any help? Please?

First of all the crash log analyser is very inaccurate in many different ways. I don't see how your graphic card is insufficient. If yours is so, then mine is far more insufficient Wat..

Second, you should clear all the caches in the folder My Documents\Electronic Arts\The Sims 3:

Create-a-Sim Cache: CasPartCache.package
Build/Buy mode cache: compositorCache.package
Mod or custom content cache: scriptCache.package
New Sims and skin cache: simCompositorCache.package
SocialCache.package
Look for a folder that says Thumbnails. Delete anything inside of it.
Look for WorldCaches and delete anything inside of it.

Do you have any mods/CC?

This is just unbelievable. I deleted every file you mention and so far it's working.Wat. This is nonsense. I ignored possibility of erasing caches because it's fresh install of Sims. There are just adds from 1 to 11, accessories from 1 to 9 and three cities from the Store i downloaded. Nothing more. Just 80gb of Sims.Razz

Anyway HUGE-GIGANTIC-MASSIVE-SMASHING thank you. Finally I'm able to play Sims.Smile

//EDIT

Well. It's just crashed. No shit, Sherlock.
I'll try change graphics setting on lower levels. I hope it'll help because game crashed while I was moving camera from one side Paradise Isle to the other side by clicking on avatar of my sim so maybe it because too high graphic settings but I still think my graphic card is good enough for highest quality.WhatDidUJustCallMe? Or isnt it?

Helper Edit: Please do not double-post. Edit your previous post instead. Thank you.

Can you tell us where you have got the Custom Content from? Were they bought from the Sims Store (EA store)?

If you mean the cities I downloaded they are from torrents. Well, everything I have is from torrents (shame on me I know).
The Sims 3 - Aurora Skies Gold
The.Sims.3.Dragon.Valley
Both from AnCiENT
And
Hidden Springs

Everything else is mostly from Game4theworld, Reloaded, FLT or just top seeders (so for example G4tw, Rld, FLT:P).

Edit:

Nope. Lowering graphic details didn't work. Starting game and moving my sim in house causing crash immediately.

Can you rename the folder My Documents\Electronic Arts\The Sims 3 and run the game again?

I suspect the custom content you downloaded elsewhere is the main reason why the game crashes.

It doesn't really matter which neighbourhood you are playing on. The game will still crash because the game loads with corrupted/incompatible Custom Content.

Post by mrspk on Sat 23 Nov 2013, 15:24

It's not my first attempt in Sims. Earlier I installed them with adds and accessories but not cities. Still crashed.

Are you sure it is not graphic fault? Because first run was like 1024x768 and... zippers? (english is not my native language so forgive me mistakes) were like six of them on medium, antialliasing - off, reflexes - only mirrors, but options above are checked (every one of them) by default.

I changing resolution to my dell default 1600x900 in game and rest didn't touch.

Another question. This Dell had win8 when I bought him. Then I throw it away and installed win 7 ultimate 64bit. Could it be that not fabric windows could mess with game?

Hm. I'll check game later when I'll be on cable. Now I'm on battery and everything is set on power saving.

As far as I know, your pc is capable of playing The Sims 3. Can you try the method I mentioned?

Please tell us the results afterwards, and if that doesn't work I will provide you another solution.

Sorry for delay.

I renamed folder.
Opened game.
Set details for high in general except antialiasing.
Start game. Create my own sim. Bought house.
So far smooth.
Moved in house.
Crash.
...

Only difference is stuff from Store avaiable for buying and showing up in my in-game stuff like clothes for example.

Edit:

Guys, please. Any ideas? Because I don't have any.WhatDidUJustCallMe? I'm still counting on you.

I see you have more than 8GB RAM. Can you try all the solutions mentioned here: http://games4theworld.bestgoo.com/t857-the-sims-3-crashes-freezes-to-desktop-fix-updated-on-29-09-2012.

Please especially use the 4GB patch program to allow your game to use up to 4GB RAM.

And I see you set the settings to high. Please try... lowering your settings.

Well, I wrote you pm.Smile

So. I tried DEP multiple times. Add just ts3w.exe. Later add every exetutable file in every Sims base and addons folder. There were files I couldn't add like Sims3LauncherW.exe in base Sims 3. I don't know why but it has to be like that right?

4gb patch for using more RAM - didn't work. There is no effect.

Lowering details - didn't work. This is crash report from my Win. I hope maybe it can help.

Turning off vertical sync didn't work either earlier nor now.

Turning off full screen appears to work and game don't crash (or just not immediately after start) but then appears this annoying problem when game is partially freezed (you know when things like water and nature is animated and seems to work but you can't do anything, moving screen nor clicking anywhere and sims are freezed as well), and it is very intensive so game is almost impossible. So, conclusion - it's closest to make game work.

It seems problem solved by changing some numbers in graphicrules.sgr lol.

Yet it is not as stable as it could be when minimizing (I'll talk with Shamrock then.Smile But game works!

Thank you!

You can fix the minimizing problem by going on windowed mode and then minimizing the game. You can also try CC Cleaner for cleaning and fixing registry keys.
