What do you think is the best Android Anti-virus?

Post by J.T. on Fri 28 Feb 2014, 11:16

Hello guys,

I just got a new smartphone and I am curious about android anti-viruses.

I only know 4 of them (there might be more, so if any of you have other better AVs, do tell me): Avast Mobile Security, Lookout Security and Antivirus, Iobit Advanced Mobile Care, and 360 Mobile Security.

Which one is the best? I heard that 360 performs quite well but you know, it was made in China, or it was created by a Chinese company, so you can never guarantee that Chinese products are non-defective. Laughing

Answer the poll and comment below, and let me know which AV I should choose (preferably free AV of course)!

[ltr]I don't have a smartphone my self. But my neighbor has one and she use's Avast Mobile Security. She told me that anything she goes to it checks it before her phone loads it.If she gets a virus by chance it will remove the virus instantly. She found that out because she ended up turning it off one day by accident. She also told me it's not hard to use like some mobile virus scan's are....Hope this helps...[/ltr]

Hi there,

Since I'm a G Data fan myself: http://www.gdatasoftware.com/onlineshop/g-data-internet-security-for-android.html
(Note that I do not own an Android device, nor have I ever used this app. Just linking Smile)

Hello,
I saw this topic like 5 days ago and I didn't know which anti-virus program I was using on my phone! Facepalm Embarassed
Then I checked it but forgot to post and NOW I'm posting it! Very Happy
Me and my mom both use Avast Mobile Security apparently and I personally don't hate but don't love it either, it does get annoying at times but doesn't really interfere with other things that I do(at times it does)! It does have good features but since I don't know much about the OTHER programs then I'm just gonna stick with this one for now!
That's all I can think of to say for now! Smile

After shortly being distracted with a too-cute-to-handle hamster eating a carrot, I checked my phone and indeed it was avast.
I like it because I trust their products (I used avast for a few years on my computer), it scans all of the apps and storage fast and doesn't push me to buy a full/additional version. Yes, it does like to update virus definitions all the time, but let's be real, which antivirus doesn't? Though, I think you can set it to update manually or only on wifi, but since I keep my phone on disabled data and wifi turned off the "Check for updates" notification is present almost all the time.
But, if you can look past that, avast should be all right for you.

Also, there is a plethora of comparison test and reviews made by professionals on the web so make sure you check those too
