Sims 3 won't install. [SOLVED]

Post by clm1971 on Sun 15 Jun 2014, 11:41

So I recently went from WinXP to Win 8.1 (boy was that a mistake). Anyway, this means reinstalling everything. So I was trying to reinstall Sims 3 and I get the error : This app can't run on your pc. Contact the software publisher for the correct version.

I am running the newest version of power iso and I d/l Sims 3 from here. This is just the base game to get the ball rolling.

Any ideas?

Have you tried running it in Windows 7 (or below, like XP) compatibility mode? I have to do that in order for my games to work (I also use 8.1)

What should I try to run in compatibility mode? Power ISO runs fine. I've used it for other programs. If you mean Sims, I'm not sure how to do that since right now I am just trying to install it, not play it.

//EDIT

Ok, well, maybe I should stop trying to install games when I am half asleep. Somehow the rar file did not fully extract. It appears to be installing fine now.

You can close this. It was just the file not being fully extracted that was causing the problem.

Mod edit: problem solved, topic closed.
