The Sims 4 has stopped working crash

Post by Agersia on Sun 26 Oct 2014, 22:25

This problem started occurring the first day I installed it and launched it (your torrent). I was rather confused as to why it happened since I did not have any custom content yet.

I have tried to fix this problem but sadly with no luck:
* tried to remove the Sims 4 folder
* turned off DEP for TS4.exe
* run as administrator
* deleted households which were not in the world
* ran game in windowed mode, medium and low settings

It crashes randomly, in no pattern at all. Doesn't matter if I am visiting the world or just at my house. At this point the game is unplayable as I can play it for somewhat around a few minutes tops.

Any ideas of what I could try?
Thank you in advance

Hello Agersia and welcome,

First: the fact that you are on a 32-bit Windows system is going to cause you lots of trouble in the long run, because this basically means that you can only use a maximum of up to 2GB for your games. If you had a 64-bit Windows, you would be able to tweak around, to let games use more than 2 GBs of RAM. So you might want to consider switching to 64-bit, at some point (Games4TheWorld has a 64-bit Windows 7, too). But let's leave that for now.

Try using "GameBooster" to improve your system performance. For a guide, see this here:
http://dl.razerzone.com/master-guides/RazerGameBooster/GameBoosterOMG-ENG.pdf

Also try defragmenting your hard-drive. Good luck for now and keep us posted ! Smile

Update!
So I decided to clean install 64-bit windows and I also defragmented my hard-drive as you suggested.
I launched the game and was actually able to play it for above an hour with no crash whatsoever, hopefully that will not happen! Thank you once again! Lets hope for the best IAmSoHappyEmergahwd

That's nice to hear ! For even better performance, download this here:

http://www.ntcore.com/files/4gb_patch.zip

And extract the file from the .zip (for example, with WinRAR). Then double-click the file. Now navigate to the TS4.exe in your base game location. In G4TW's edition of the game that's C:\Program files(x86)\Electronic Arts\The Sims 4\Game\Bin. And select that TS4.exe file. Wait for the message "executable successfully patched" and close the 4GB patch.

Now the overall performance should be even better. Smile  Keep us posted about any other issues !

I tried that however it gave me a message like this: "Couldn't open executable"
Any Ideas as of why?

Are you running the game at the same time ? Please CLOSE the game if so, and try re-applying that patch. Also try re-booting the computer, and then try the 4GB patch again. Smile  It's possible that anti-virus software somehow "blocks" the file...
