Windows 10? Will it break anything?

Post by Elubelle on Sat 19 Sep 2015, 13:40

Heya!

Sorry for posting here, don't know if it's the right place to ask my question but it's the only place I was able to post this topic.

I know this might sound very stupid to a lot of computer savvy people, but will getting the Windows 10 update do anything to my Sims 4 installed game? (I installed it from this website and it's most recently updated)

There was talk that it could better detect pirated content and flag it..

Thank you!  Why.

Not sure, probably. It will break everything else though...

If you're on Windows 8 there's really no reason to upgrade. Windows 10 is just Windows 8 with intrusive policies and DRM.

I installed the Windows 10 this August with a clean install (I formatted the whole computer first), and at first it was full of bugs. These bugs have been reduced slowly.

I had to install many "complements" to make my games work such Nvdia GeForce, Microsoft Silverlight, Microsoft ASP, Java 8 or Microsoft Visual C++ four different times (2010 64 bits, 2010 32 bits, 2013 64 bits, 2013 32 bits)...

But after installing everything and updating Windows all games work perfectly, without any compatibility problem. Now it feels like I'm in Windows 7 with a more modern taskbar. And Windows hasn't noticed anything about pirate games.

as long as windows defender and your antivirus have the files as exceptions, and you installed it all right, it works like a charm ^^
(despite there are a few in game bugs from time to time)
its faster than it once on windows 7, but when your doing multiple things..
its a weency bit slower

Nope.
"nope" isn't even worth your time posting.

and i think you mean "Yes"
of course there are extra steps i didnt mention, but a fresh windows 10 upgrade shouldnt need extra steps to protect your game.

How about you let me decide that?

Anyway, simply "disabling" Windows Defender literally does not do anything besides mislead the user into that it's off. It's still running in the background, and it'll still mess with your pirated programs.
