Can I downgrade a patch?

Post by MissNyx on Tue 02 Feb 2016, 08:42

I got a new computer and I don't have my game discs so I just installed base game via origin. But that pashed my game to the newest patch, whick to me use useless and might not work with mods. I wanted to download a few EPs from here, but I waned to know if id' just be able to apply the manual patch and it would fix it on it's own?

Hi,

Did it update to version 1.69? If so, see this: http://games4theworld.bestgoo.com/t22114-small-announcement-regarding-the-sims-3-version-1-69-36-0240

But no, downgrading is not possible, unfortunately. In order to do so, you'll have to uninstall all The Sims 3 games, restart your PC, and then reinstall them all. After installing them all, you should use the manual patch of the version you want to update to. (So NOT the latest manual patch, which is recommended HERE)
In order for that to work, you should either somehow disable automatic updating of the base game via Origin, or you can just torrent the base game. (There's not really a difference between the original and torrented version anyway)

Actually, you don't have to uninstall the entire game to go down a patch level. Just the base game should be enough.

Oh okay, thanks!

I only installed the base game, because I didn't realize that it would update all the way up to that patch and I didn't wanna go crazy having to uninstall everything. LOL. But I'll just download the base game from here.

Also, if I download the entire sims 3 collection does that mean I have to install ALL eps and sps? Cause I do only want specific ones? (and downloading the base game individually sets of my virus protection for some reason)

Hello,

You can install the expansions you want, and leave the rest, no problem Smile

Hello @MissNyx !

That would be a warning sign, that you should add the install location of your Sims 3 game(s), to the exclusions of that anti-virus program. Or at least turn it off temporarily, until you re-applied the manual patch and the Ultimate fix.

Normally we see this with The Sims 4, but sometimes anti-virus programs also seem to mess with TS3.
