Sims 3 game crashes but animations continue (PLEASE HELP)

Post by ivypoison255 on Tue 03 May 2016, 02:50

I've had this problem for a long time, even before I installed the game from you guys. I'd play it, and after a while, sometimes sim days, hours, or minutes the game would freez, animations continue and would never unfreeze till the point I'd have to task manager quit without saving. I'm at my wits end. I loved Sims 3, but I can't play ANY of my saves, in many different worlds because of this! Please help!

//EDIT

I have the ultimate fix, and I was wondering how we know if our game updates. I know other people who have bought the game have the April update and I don't?

Hello,

For now (re-)do the steps from #2 to #4: http://games4theworld.bestgoo.com/t1171-must-read-how-to-install-the-sims-3-correctly

Next make sure that you download all available Windows updates too...

Now have another  look at this other topic here and re-do all steps: http://games4theworld.bestgoo.com/t857-the-sims-3-crashes-freezes-to-desktop-fix-updated-on-7-01-2014

If your Windows is a 64-bit version AND if your computer has 4 GB of RAM or more, then focus on step #3 in particular. Download the "4 GB patch" from here.

After downloading, double-click on that 4 GB patch and in the next prompt, choose the TS3W.exe in your base game location. Usually, that's C:\Program files(x86)\Electronic Arts\The Sims 3\Game\Bin. Wait for the message "executable successfully patched" and close the 4 GB patch.

Note that this method will not work if your Windows is a 32-bit version and/or if your computer has fewer  than 4 GB of RAM. After doing that, go on with the rest of the steps. These instructions should be pretty self-explanatory.

Now go to My Documents/Electronic Arts/The Sims 3 and delete all contents inside the Currentgame.sims3 folder. Also, in My Documents/Electronic Arts/The Sims 3, delete the following stuff:

-CASPartCache.package
-compositorCache.package
-scriptCache.package
-simCompositorCache.package
-socialCache.package
-plus the contents of the folders "WorldCaches" & "Thumbnails"

Re-start the game then and see if anything improved. You may even turn off your anti-virus program completely before playing The Sims 3. Also, have you also heard about the tool "GameBooster", which can help you improve your system's performance ? Google for "Razer Cortex".

Finally, check out the topic about excessive FPS rendering  and try applying the procedures shown there, on your own system.

Good luck for now !

P.S. about your Sims 4 question, the pirated Sims 4 game cannot update itself unless you manually apply such an update. But the latest Sims 4 update has not been cracked yet. You will still have the game version 1.13.104.1010. Smile

I also have always used a lot of the Nrass mods. Namingly, Mastercontroller, Story progression, overwatch, portrait panel, mover, and woohooer. Would any of you by chance know if those mods might be causing my game to freeze and not unfreeze until I have to Ctrl alt del?

The only way to know for sure would be to test them one-by-one. So put in just one of these mods, start up the game, test your game, and depending on the outcome insert the other mods slowly, testing your game each time.
