Sims 3 not loading up

Post by Lailyna on Sun 12 Jun 2016, 17:07

To start; here's some background...

Using Windows 8.1
Sims 3 complete collection from you guys
Extracted all files
Installed Sims 3 base (tried on both D: and C: drives)
Installed patch from the #crack folder
Installed multiple different variations of SPs and EPs throughout my multiple attempts to get this to work. Everything from all packs to only one pack (WA by itself, or generations by itself)
Copied the .exe and .dll files from #crack to base game bin and replaced existing files.
Go to start the game....
Nothing

This is where my headache is sitting at. I have tried adding DEP exclusions for all sims 3 exes, tried running in different compatibility modes, run as administrator, multiple uninstalls and reinstalls...

All that happens is that lovely loading circle next to my pointer shows up... no loading screen, no black screen, no error, nothing.  When pulling up task manager it shows Sims 3 startup application, and every few minutes a second startup application will show up in the list then disappear again.

... Help Sad

Hello and welcome to the forum @Lailyna,

Did you have The Sims 3 installed in the past already ?

Also, try adding the install location of your game to your anti-virus software's exclusion list. Then re-apply the #Crack. It is an unlikely possibility, but it's not totally impossible that your anti-virus is preventing the running of the game.

I noticed you mentioned having tried installing the games on the D: drive. Did you create the install folders beforehand, manually, in that case ? If you install the game elsewhere than on C:, it's strongly recommended to create install folders manually. Read up on this post here to learn why.

Other than that, I myself had this same problem only once in all these years since I've been playing. Whenever I tried running the game, it wouldn't do anything. Just re-booting the computer fixed the issue for me, luckily. But I knew I did not do anything wrong. I installed it properly, took all other measures, and so forth.

@The_gh0stm4n, thanks for the quick reply...

I believe I may have had it installed on this computer in the past, but I'm not 100% sure. If i had, it would have been a while ago, and nothing remained from it.

And yes, I created the individual folders for the base game and each pack before hand when trying to install on D:

I will try the antivirus exception... it's the only thing I haven't tried. Hopefully that will work. lol
