Hello Tami again,

It really doesn't matter that much. Smile  If you haven't installed the patch "before an expansion", and it is needed, you will get a prompt when you try to install the expansion. So you have to update anyhow.

And re-installing the entire game wouldn't have been necessary either, when you copied/pasted the crack-files in the wrong place, but alright. Good luck anyhow, and do keep us posted about your progress ! Very Happy

Hey The_gh0sttm4n,

Thanks for the reply. it seemed to work BUT only if i run the sims as admin AND if i run without my downloads (but only the .sims3pack) meaning my Mods folder shows up fine and the game launches but as soon as i "Run with Custom Content" the whole pc freezes..

as i said it was just updated (yesterday) and they did manage to keep my The Sims 3 folder completely intact (but i had to reinstall the discs)

Any ideas???

Thanks

I'm assuming all your CC items worked fine, in your previous/earlier Sims 3 installation ? Can you try going under Documents\Electronic Arts\The Sims 3 and delete the cache files ?

-CASPartCache.package
-compositorCache.package
-scriptCache.package
-simCompositorCache.package
-socialCache.package
-plus the contents of the folders "WorldCaches" & "Thumbnails"

Then re-start the game and see if it improved anything.

Ill give it a try, but i have just seen, there is something else wrong but with the pc. While trying to reply to you all of a sudden my screen cuts out, and the pc looks as if its searching for the screen--running through the different modes--then it goes to a 'loading screen' then just freezes.. I swear technology and me do not work.

I hear you...over the years I myself have had my fair share of technical problems, which (luckily) in most cases I managed to fix myself, since I learned a lot too - although I have no 'formal' education or training on all this computer/tech stuff, at least not currently.

If there's anything we can do to help you beyond The Sims 3, message us here. Until then, take your time, there is no rush. Smile

I had blackscreens with Windows 10 while playing various games such as Minecraft or Cities: Skylines. The screen would turn black, and there was nothing tht could be done anymore, except powering off the computer, and re-starting. One of the reasons I eventually got rid of Windows 10, and am now going back to Windows 7 (Ultimate).

i see.. Now a really pathetic question....  can you run Windows 7 on a 64 bit system????

ALSO i just saw (while launching the game) i went into task manager... now im on a 64 bit, yet under Processes tab, it says The Sims # Into The Future (32-bit)... why does it say 32?? could this be the problem??

Well, I haven't had any problems myself running TS3 on Win10, and I've been running it like that ever since Win10 came out.
You can indeed run Windows 7 on a 64-bit system, just use the 64-bit version Wink

The Sims is 32-bit, so that is fine, it's no problem.

You could start afresh with a clean Windows 7 (x64 = 64-bit) installation, however, I would do some research in advance as to whether there are Windows 7-supported drivers for the hardware in your computer. This could also be a source of potential problems.
