Graphics Card Not Recognized. [SOLVED]

Post by PersusjCP on Tue 15 Nov 2016, 15:31

Hi,  I have an RX 480 and the game keeps telling me that my graphics card is not recognized and cannot run the game (or the drivers are outdated (but i updated them yesterday))

Any thoughts?

Hello,

Welcome to the forum.
Have you been able to play the game before?
In which way were your drivers updated?
Have you tried a clean install of your drivers? (completely uninstall your drivers, then use the latest drivers)
Are you by any chance using crossfire/dual graphics?
Perhaps some settings to tweak in your Crimson software?

Sorry for the long wait, I kinda forgot about this post because I was busy with a project.

I have not been able to play the game on this computer, but on my old one I did. That has an old ATI HD 3450.

I just used the automatic Crimson software updater.

I have not tried that, do you have a way that i could try that? I'll look around as well.

I am not using Crossfire as I only have one GPU

Already looked into that, and there isn't anything worthwile.

Maybe you can apply the procedure described here, analogous to The Sims 4:
http://simswiki.info/wiki.php?title=Game_Help:Getting_new_graphics_cards_recognized_by_the_game

The guide is intended for The Sims 3, but maybe it works for The Sims 4 as well. Your "device ID" can be found under Documents\Electronic Arts\The Sims 4\Config.log - and in that file under Graphics device info -> Chipset -> Vendor.

The GraphicsCards.sgr and GraphicsRules.sgr files then, can be found under C:\Program files (x86)\The Sims 4\Game\Bin.

Good luck!

Hi, I ended up reinstalling my drivers and it works. I dunno why it wasn't working before because they were installed correctly. Weird.

Sometimes the driver can fail, like any other software. Good to hear that fixed it!
