Sims Launcher Error During Startup. [SOLVED]

Post by Winchester on Wed 02 Nov 2011, 17:12

Hello,
First of all, this has been my 4th uninstall/install with the sims so I hope you guys can help me, or else I'm gonna go crazy Sad. Okay so, I can't get launcher to work nor start the game without launcher as I get a different error. Currently, only Sims 3 and Pets is installed, as thought I'd use less uninstalls if something went wrong. What I've done so far;
- Used crack fix, didn't work.
- Manually updated, didn't work.
- I've no mods or whatsoever installed.
What shall I try this time? Sad Help Seriously, its like I've spent half of my life installing Sims as I'm a loyal player since first game Laughing Halp!

Thanks in advance.

Hello,

Well, if you want us to help/guide you, please describe what your problem is. We can't really help if you say "it doesn't work", because we don't know what isn't working.
Please describe everything you can; any errors? Crash? At what point? Any useful information?

Hey again,

So sorry that I sounded vague. Basically, I think my main problem is the launcher. You see, when I install only The Sims 3, launcher works, but when I refresh and such it "sees" no updates that should be installed. So no problems with the base game. When I install any expansion (tried Generations and Pets so far), after the installation is done, I can't launch the launcher, it says "error during start up, please look at the log" and its version looks like its 0.0.0.0. If I try to start without launcher, I get "unable to start game - service initialization failed (0x0175dcbb) error. I've updated my graphic card driver, didn't help. Also, I don't know if its related, but when I start the launcher with base game it says "you're not using an authorized copy bla bla bla" as I downloaded the game.

Thanks again.

Hello,

Please try as following:

1. Completely uninstall the game + Expansions.
2. Restart your PC.
3. Reinstall the game following these instructions: http://games4theworld.bestgoo.com/t1171-must-read-how-to-install-the-sims-3-correctly

Good luck!

Hello,

Hmmm... please contact me via the Forum's chatbox when you see me online. I'll try to fix the problem for you via TeamViewer, if you don't mind.
Please note I'm pretty busy this week, so maybe I'll be online in the weekend.

Okay so, after lots of reinstalls and more failures, I've bumped into this forum post. It tells if the game version is " 1.0.615" the game is probably Beta version and it wouldn't work, as in it wouldn't recieve any updates. Could that be the case? I've downloaded the game from this site and its 1.0.615 version.

Hello,
You can update G4TW base game to the latest version, try doing so manually.

HALLELUJAH!

I made it work after THOUSAND uninstalls/installs, I figured it out thanks to a forum topics. So here goes what helped me:

- HAVE A COMPLETE / CLEAN INSTALL if you have installed modified copies before. I mean, like REALLY complete.

-After uninstalling from Control Panel, run "regedit", go to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE -> Software -> Delete Electronic Arts or everything related to The Sims 3 over there.

-Check if the "Software" folder has a Sims or Sims 3 folder. DELETE IT. I missed that file once and it again caused problems.

-Then Check HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE -> Software -> Classes for any .Sims3 .Sims3Pack Sims3 or Sims3Pack files. If found, delete.

-Restart & install and it should be fine after that. Manually updating helped me.

I hope that helps someone also, was driving me crazy Very Happy

Mod edit: Problem solved, topic closed.
Happy Simming! Glad to hear you got it to work The Sims Plumbob 1
