Service intialization error

Post by burns on Fri 25 Nov 2011, 18:47

Everytime I try to start up Sims 3 (from the launcher and TS3.exe) itself, I get a service intialization error followed by "The Sims 3 is not responding" pop-up. This happened twice. The first time it happened, my male Sim got stuck. I attempted to save and reload, but the save took forever so I forced closed it and reloaded it. The error I mentioned above occurred. I tried all kinds of things to no avail, leaving me to do a system restore point before the problems began. It worked, and so I played for a few hours and my male Sim became invisible along with my newly-adopted dog that came invisible. The same thing happened.

My computer met the specs for sure (I tried it on this) and I've more than enough RAM to run the game. I also had my NVIDA settings set accordingly and DEP has made exceptions for my game. I've The Sims 3 (retail), Ambitions, Generations and Pets. My game is also updated to the newest patch and I'm running on Windows Vista Basic with SP 2 and not running any firewalls. I'm also using the Sims 3 ultimate fix offered in this forum.

Things I've done in an attempt to fix the game:
• Uninstall, install
• Cleaned registry using CCleaner
• Deleted DCCache, DCBackup and Save folders, as well as cache files
• Removed mods and ran game without download content
• Ran game as admin
• Changed to full screen mode (by editing Options.ini file)
• Renamed my Sims 3 folder
• A defrag is ongoing now

Any help is really appreciated! Thank you.

Ah, looks like you tried a lot of possible solutions.
Now, let's try it this way:

1. Please completely remove The Sims 3 and ALL expansions and everything else, using Your Uninstaller!, which can be downloaded from under "Downloads".
2. Restart your PC.
3. Do both a registry and a normal Ccleaner cleaning.
4. Reinstall everything following exactly these instructions:
5. DO NOT add any CC and/or Mods yet.
6. Test the game and please let us know the result here.

Good luck!
