That same old Origin error.

Post by Mirankor on Sun 16 Jul 2017, 01:58

Alright so, I've searched through the forum and found absolutely no solution that helped me.

I get this error message just by starting the game, whether it be elevated (run as administator) or not.
I have my anti-virus disabled.
The game is located in C:/Program Files (x86)/The Sims 4
I have an exception for the game in my firewall.
Edit: Almost forgot to mention that I'm using Windows 7
I followed all of the instructions for correct installation, and I even downloaded the No Origin files, to no avail. Is there any help that can be given?

What extra DLC's have you installed ?
Re-copy the folder Game to your install folder.

Most probably your AV already attacked the crack prior to your disabling of the AV.
This could already have taken place whilst downloading or extracting.

Try starting your game via C:/Program Files (x86)\The Sims 4\Game\Bin\TS4_x64.exe
Make sure Origin is not active on your computer, check in Taskmanager.

I don't have Origin, the game was downloaded, extracted, and installed with Anti-virus disabled.
The game won't even run the base game for me because of a fail to initialize error, and adding even a single DLC gives me the Origin error. I copied the Game folder over like in another thread, and I've tried running both versions, in Program files, Program files (x86), and from desktop (moving The Sims 4 folder to those locations). I already read through most of the forum posts before I posted here, hoping to not be forced to post at all lol.

* You don't have Origin
* Game moved out of folder Electronic Arts
* AV was disabled during download and extraction.

Leaves as possible cause:

* Your install folder is not in exclusions of your AV
* You have copied TS4.exe or TS4_X64.exe to your desktop instead of creating a shortcut.
* Download not extracted with Winrar but used another program.

Nope, none of those either. I extracted with winrar, I've been opening the game through the bin folder, and I have it excluded from my AV. I told you, I did everything mentioned in the forums. xD

I am having the same problem, I have tried reinstalling with AVG disabled and enabled and I still get the pop up. I extracted with WinRar and did not change the folder.

I bought the original Sims 4 game on origin but made sure it was uninstalled and had origin switched off. I even disabled any origin based processes on the task manager.

I am running my computer on windows 10 64bit.

Any advice would be appreciated.

When you switch off AVG and you have Windows 7 or Windows 10, the built in AV of Windows (Windows Defender) will be activated.
So make sure that Windows Defender also has these files in the exclusions.
When that's done:
Extract the last installed download again and copy the folder Game to your install folder
OR
When Toddlers/Vampires is your last installed DLC, delete the existing folder Game, download and extract THIS FOLDER and place that Game folder in your install folder
When Fitness is your last installed DLC, delete the existing folder Game, download and extract THIS FOLDER and place that Game folder in your install folder

Thanks for your support. What I found worked was in the "further instructions" link you attached at the end which was to move the "Sims 4" file out of the Electronic Arts file before trying to open.

I am impressed by the quick response from support, thanks for your help.

Unfortunately I still have my problem, seeing as I've done all of that. I have windows defender deactivated in the registry of my computer and all, because I can't stand it.

Hi there,

Unfortunately it seems that you have excluded or at least turn off the anti-virus in your pc. Also make sure that there are no additional anti-virus program bundled together.

Actually if I'm not wrong, a simmer actually mention (or was it a couple of them) that the origin error was persistent in Windows 7 and they had to upgrade to windows 8 for the error to disappear.

Trust me, I've owned this computer for years and I know everything about it. The anti-virus I actually have doesn't do anything with the game anyways, it's not deleted, removed, or quarantined. If it were it would have given m,e a pop-up alert like it always does lol. There is no other anti-virus. Also, strange, my ex has the same pirated copy on her windows 7 pc without problem.

Have you tried to DELETE the existing folder Game and REPLACE by either the one for Toddlers/Vampires or the one for Fitness (depending on what DLC's you have installed of course)

Yes, I mentioned earlier that I did everything mentioned in previous topics of the same nature, that was one of the first things I've tried. It's just unfortunately not that simple for me.

I see. Unfortunately, like I mention before, it might be how the Windows 7 handles the security programs and such. Also, sometimes files can get deleted without any pop-up or notifications, depending on what you're using.

That aside, have you also look at the alternate solutions here? And if you happen to have origin installed BEFORE, try to manually uninstall it (deleting the program data and all that if there's any remnants left). You can read the thread here.

Alas, if all else fails, either you can try out the ZLOrigin OR try to install another version of the Sims 4 for your pc. I'm sorry since technically this is not a solution at all.
