Sims 3 Problem

Post by chaoshon on Wed 18 Jan 2012, 01:56

http:/... .com/get... shtml (lol, these admins really don't like newbies posting links)
Hi. Having updated the game (p/t/t/h:/\games.softpedia.m/o/c/get/Patch/The-Sims-3-Patch.l/m/t/h/s), when I start the game I get a black screen
and I can see only the cursor. Than I press ctrl+alt+del / alt+esc /
alt+tab, and when I click back on the game I get this message (still
it's a black screen):

"It looks like you have installed an unofficial game modification that
does not match your current version of The Sims 3. We recommend that you
either uninstall these game modifications or get updated versions of
them - otherwise you may experience crashes or significant bugs."

Than I have an option to Quit or Continue.

If I continue, the game loads correctly, but once I try to enter my town it crashes during the Loading bar.

I
tried deleting everything that I had downloaded (mods etc') AND
everything related to these items (whole neighborhoods), but it
didn't work.

The update itself I did like such: I applied the
Ultimate Fix, and instead of step 13 I updated "manually" (just ran the
file I had downloaded). Since this didn't work I tried first just running
the update, and than applying the Ultimate Fix as usual.

Ideas?

Mod edit: Topic moved to the right section.

Hello,
Lol, sorry about the links. It really helps discouraging spammers.
Its most likely that your problem is a problem with the crack. It could be misplaced, missing or outdated.
It would be helpful to know, what your current game version is (see image below), when you last downloaded the fix and whether this was the official fix or the temporary fix, and we'd like to see a screenshot of the folder you copied the crack to during step 14.

My current game version is 10.0.96.014001 (first time I notice, meaning that the patch that apparently worked, actually didn't).

The fix is pretty old, from the time my game version was up-tp-date. Maybe 6 months. It's the official fix.

I'm pretty sure I copied the crack to the correct folder ( C:\Program Files (x86)\Electronic Arts\The Sims 3\Game\Bin ).

I'll try downloading and applying the updated ultimate fix and will report back.

Hello,
Its the base game version we're interested in, you can find out which version it is as shown in the image.
Anyway, if your fix is from 6 months ago, you'll need the updated official fix since that one isn't compatible with the latest patch anyway.

I downloaded the latest Ultimate Fix and applied it. The game works fine, however the version is still 10.0.96.014001, and it says I have no available updates. What should I do?

Hello,
If your game is working, you can assume its up to date and all is well. The game version you're talking about appears to be ok, but is not really relevant since its only the base game version that's interesting.
If you want to make sure your game is the latest version, hover your mouse over the basegame icon in the lower left corner of the game launcher as shown in the picture I posted earlier.
