The Sims 3 Marriage Proposal Problem

Post by f4yt022 on Wed 01 Feb 2012, 02:22

Hi. So I've dled up to the Sims 3 Pets and still am unable to propose to my partner (who I also created). We've been dating forever and I can never get the relationship to extremely irresistable ever since Ambitions. Am I unable to propose to another created sim or something? Please help!

Hello,
You'll have to keep repeating the "basic" romantic interactions. Don't mix it up with friendly interactions and avoid either sim stepping away from the interaction to (for example) go to the bathroom. Its a good idea to make sure all their needs are taken care of before starting.
If you've had them do some basic romantic interactions, other romantic interactions become available, like embracing. Use those interactions too because you don't want your sims to get bored of it. Eventually the "propose marriage" interaction comes up, but you need to work your way to it.
Its just like in real life I guess, you can't (usually) pop the question casually, as she's doing the dishes, you have to set the mood.

Thanks for the reply. I'll definitely try that.

Re: The Sims 3 Marriage Proposal Problem

So after making sure their needs were taken care of, I tried all the romantic gestures given and made sure not repeat them after I've used them, however after getting to alluring my partner goes back to thinking I'm okay again without being able to use any of the new romantic gestures more than twice. So still no avail to the propose marriage option. Could it have something to do with the game? I've even tried taking my partner out on dates and start the romantic gestures but nothing...Sad Does the number of dates affect the proposal option as well?! Any suggestions??

Hello,
No it doesn't, you don't have to take them out on dates at all. Lets see.. are they already going steady?

Hello there,

They've been steady for a while. And I moved them into the same house as well. Before I remember being able to propose during the Ambitions expansion but after that it seemed impossible to get the extremely irresistible option.

Hello,
I'm trying to do a search for you, but nothing comes up.
Lets see.. have you tried with both sims? Are you using mods?

hello again,
I'm pretty sure I'm not using any mods. Can it have to do with any of the expansions I've downloaded? I didn't dl any of the first 3 sim games (expansion included) from games4theworld, but I doubt that as well. Sad

Hello,
No that shouldn't matter at all, where you got your game from has no influence on game play.
From what I've read, this could be a random glitch. Have you tried with both sims? Perhaps having the other sim propose will work.
It can also help sometimes to install a mod. But there are no guarantees.

I think I've tried everything I could think of even using both sims to try to propose. I think the best thing to do is possibly backup my file, uninstall all the expansions and reinstall the original game and try to propose that way and then reinstall all the expansions again.

Hello,
I'm not sure your save game will be compatible, since it was saved with data from the expansions.
If one of your sims is family oriented, you can use the interactions Special->Family Oriented->Propose Marriage.A hopeless romantic Sim may also have this "special" interaction but I'm not sure.
If you don't have a family oriented or hopeless romantic sim, you may change traits (temporarily) by using testingcheatsenabled true and shift-clicking your sim after activating the cheat. That will bring up a menu that allows you to edit your sim in CAS and change a trait.

Okay, just tried that. Didn't work either...got alluring for like 2 actions and then went back to flirty. Sad I think I might have to start all over again WhatDidUJustCallMe?

Hello,
I mean, if you look at the special->family oriented->propose marriage interactions, you shouldn't have to build the mood, the option to propose is there regardless because of the trait.

hmm, the interaction option doesn't seem to be there after I changed their trait to family-oriented Sad So for fun, I broke up with my partner (who I created) and tried to flirt with another and got to irresistible...why is that?! Sad

Hello,
I don't know, seems like you have a bug there. Maybe you can try again with these sims, or use a mod to have them be married.

Hello,
Unless you want to try that mod, but that's not very realistic I suppose.
