I think that save game is corrupt then. What you can do is look at your saves folder, and find the sunsetvalley.sims3 folder. Does it include "bad"?
You can attempt to load the back up, there is a folder named sunsetvalley.sims3.backup, remove that last part and move the original save game from the "saves" folder, see if it loads.

Yes there is a folder "bad". So on sunsetvalley.sims3.backup delete .backup from name then move the original game somewhere (like my desktop)?

Hello,
Yes that's quite right Wink
You might consider using Twallan's error trap to help prevent corrupted save games in the future.

Hello,
Did you save a back up anywhere? I back up my save games every 2 weeks, so I never lose much progress.
I've also found this, you have already tried the first suggestion, and the second one really isn't interesting unless you recently installed WA, but there might be something to the 3rd suggestion.

Hello,
Unfortunately it looks like you need WA to make this work.
I can offer you one final solution that may or may not work, it will at the very least least help prevent this from happening again. And that's a mod called ErrorTrap.
I think it's a good idea to back up your save games regularly, depending on how often you play you could consider making a new backup every week or every 2 weeks. Simply go to My Documents\Electronic Arts\The Sims 3, find and select the saves folder and make a copy of it. I keep my backup on my D: drive, but you can also save it to an external HD, or USB stick. I put the date in the folders name and keep 2 backup's, the current one and the previous one.

Okay, i'll download and figure out how to install that tomorrow. I'll get back to you on how it goes. I'll start making sure I back up my game on the next game I start. Could I save the copy of the saves folder to my desktop?

Hello,
You can save the copy anywhere you want, as long as its not in My Documents\Electronic Arts\The Sims 3.
