Tried everything--nothing works. [SOLVED]

Post by Robyn-Jo on Fri 02 Mar 2012, 23:36

Hi,

I've been following this guide all day, and last night. I have all the Sims 3 expansion packs downloaded, and of course, the base game.

I couldn't even tell you how many times i've tried to get this working by uninstalling and re-installing the game. I then saw this thread, and uninstalled everything again, then reinstalled while i was waiting to see if you could get your game working.

So i did everything. Followed the Ultimate fix guide, and replaced step 11 with your manual patch you posted here.

Still having an error message appear saying "The base game is incompatible with the expansion packs..." I honestly have no idea what else to try.

And yes, my base game is the same version as mentioned here--Razor 1911

Please respond A.S.A.P with a way to fix this, before i blow my brains out!!!

Thanks,

Robyn

Hello,

At what point do you get this error?
Also, please open your launcher and hover your mouse over the base game icon in the lower-left corner of the launcher's window. What version does it show? It starts with 1.xx.x .

Hey,

I get the error as soon as i open the launcher, and my game updated correctly using the manual patch to version 1.29.55.....

I have no CC or mods installed either.

Cannot understand what is causing this problem.

Thanks,

Robyn

Hey,

Just tried that, still getting the same error message about the base game being incompatible.

Thanks,

Robyn

//EDIT

Any other ideas? I really want to get this working now, i'm getting
frustrated and have been trying for literally about 10 hours over today
and yesterday.

Thanks.

Hello,
Incompatible in what way, does it specify?

I have exactly this problem too. Reinstalled and tried different things three times, but nope, still the same error message.
I've
tried to update the main sims game to 12.55, and then update the
expansions according to the patch table which can be found in hte SimsWiki.
It worked to update, but it still shows the same error message.

I
wish I could specify the exact error message for you, Eldi, but I have
it in swedish, so I can't really translate it for an exact match.

Hello,
It looks like you patched to 1.31, judging by your launcher version.
The error, is it something along the lines of: "It looks like you've installed an unofficial game modification ....." warning you of crashes and bugs?

Hello,
Ok can you try to translate what it says? It doesn't have to be precise.

I already specified the best i could.

All it says is the base game is incompatible with the current expansion.

It probably the most vague errr message in history. I too, have tried to individually update each game from the chart of updates found on SimWiki. And no, i did not update to 1.31.

Please help.

Hello,
Is that during installation, or during game play? Because I know for a fact that you should be able to disregard that message if it comes up during the installation of the expansionpacks, having just done that myself not too long ago.

@Robyn-Jo wrote:Hi,

I would suggest installing the Main Sims 3 game than installing the 882 megabyte TS3_1.29.55.0140xx_update located via this site than install the packages Part 02 The Sims 3 Master Suit Stuff, Part 03 The Sims 3 Pets, Part 04 The Sims 3 Town Life Stuff, Part 05 The Sims 3 Generations, Part 06 The Sims 3 Late Night, Part 07 The Sims 3 High-End Loft Stuff, Part 08 The Sims 3 Fast Lane, Part 09 The Sims 3 Outdoor Living Stuff, Part 10 The Sims 3 World Adventures, Part 11 The Sims 3 Ambitions once these are all installed THAN The_Sims_3_fix folder than the # Crack folder and copy and paste just those 2 files to the main game folder *The Sims 3 \Game\Bin* That's it Game works install your FrameworkSetup add your *packages and downloads to corresponding folders. That's the only true way I found this game to work flawlessly. When the next update comes out from Games4TheWorld which will be maybe 900 megs to a gig all will have to be re-installed. Of course saving your game in another folder first.

First 3 packages are most important if you do not have The Sims 3 Master Suit Stuff than The Sims 3 Pets and so on.
Edit\\\Do NOT INSTALL THE EA OR ORION CRAP so you wont be bothered by an update.

Especially considering how i just went and BOUGHT the sims 3 base game, and even though i have no expansions installed, it's still giving me the same "base game is not compatible with current expansion packs" error....

Seriously, someone please sort this out?

This really is pissing me off. I'm going to completely uninstall it for the fifth time. And then only install the base game, try if it works, proceeed to the next expansion, and try if it works, and so on. I'll be back in.. an hour I guess.

And I have ATTEMPTED to get the games running on this PC in the past, but I've always had that error every time I've tried. Tried using this "ultimate" fix which did nothing, tried downloading and installing each individual patch separately which didn't work either, tried just installing the base game, that didn't work, so this morning i thought "i'll go buy the disk"....Still the same error message, even with just the base game alone with no expansions...This is just ridiculous. If the patch i'm downloading now doesn't work, i'm calling EA...

All these installations and reinstallations must have put something in your registry that shouldn't be there. Also, try removing your own save files located in documents. Back them up first though.

Okay, if you update to 1.29.55 it will show the message. I installed Sims 3 base game, it worked, then after updating to 1.29.55 without any expansions, the message comes. WTF!!?!?
