Trying to install an old house I created

Post by lordnathanial on Tue 13 Mar 2012, 01:42

Hello,

I have a house I built a while back saved in my downloads folder but it isnt showing up in the game. Anyways I try to install it since it is a simspack and it tells me that I need to update my game. Is there a work around of any sort?

Thanks

Ok After searching for an answer to your question I just found out that it has been a common problem with Origin. It seems that EA changes the way or Origin reads the coding on the files and it just does not confirm that you are up do date.
One of the solutions would be not to use Origin any more, or updated; However for these two solutions I would recommend the Admin help on how to do it safely, without cousing, yet an extra problem.
I hope this at least lets you know what is the cause of the problem.

Hello,

Origin can be uninstalled safely, it would not create an issue of any sort. You can simply uninstall it with your control panel after which you run ccleaner, or use uninstallation software like youruninstallerpro (which can be downloaded here).

Ok I uninstalled origin, ran ccleaner and I get an error of no origin when I run the sims 3 (although the game still runs no problem there) but, when I go to install the house I get the same error that I need to update and retry. Should I uninstall the entire game install my house when it works and then install my cracks?

Hello,

Do you still have the save game of the world in which you built this house?

Hello,

That's too bad, but you do have the sims3pack of the house? Would you like someone to have a look at it?

Hello,

If you can upload it to a filesharing site like mediafire, I'll have a look Smile

Hello,

I can't seem to find it like that, but you can also post the mediafire link with spaces in stead of dots Wink

When you made it this house, did you have only registered games? I will attempt to see if I can decrapify the file. It'll take some time.

Hello,

Still no luck Sad
It may be that you created it with an older patch level and it will no longer work. So if you really want it, you can try reinstalling up until the patch level you had when you last accessed the house and see if it will install. If it does, you can always patch further once you've placed it in a town.

Ok I will try that and let u know how it comes out. I had it running last up to late night I think.

//EDIT

Is it ok to install the games that I have discs 4 and patch them through the loader b4 I install the cracks?

//EDIT

Is it ok to install the programs I have discs 4 and patch it through the launcher without messing up the cracks I have?

Hello,

If you path your game to the latest version your house wont install. Something about that patch changed the way sims3pack works. It's the same reason why the old Riverview file doesn't work. I'm not sure what else there can be done about that.

Actually, I have discs of most exept the last stuff pack and this new EP. I do preffer to use manual patching over using the launcher to patch, to me it is a less invasive way of doing it, but that is just me. Other than that there is no problems in using the Launcher for the games that you own.

any chance it could possibly need rig fix from when the pets ep broke alot of custom content? that may make a difference, but im not sure.

i just got thru wiping and completely doing over my pc today. just finished installing all my sims 3 sp an ep's just now.

i am actually looking for the TSR rig fix profram myself atm. i just went to tsr to get it, and noticed that they have their server down and are currently moving. i found the granny2.dll file whichis needed, and cant believe i found, it was a nightmare tracking that down when pets came out. figures this time i can get the dll, but now tsr is unavailable for me to get rigfix software.

anybody else have that? or know somewhere i can get it besides tsr?

Hello,

I'm not sure there's another download location, you may have to wait until they're all moved.
