Sims 3 Showtime Crashing/Launcher busted

Post by tryonosaurus on Fri 29 Jun 2012, 02:36

So I downloaded Showtime yesterday, but it keeps crashing. I bought all of the other expansions and the base game, and I've never had problems like this before.

Whenever I'd try to merge a household from the Edit Town screen it would crash. I uninstalled all CC and mods, tried again, same problem. I used the Ultimate Fix, and now the launcher gives me an error. When I bypass the launcher by just starting the game itself, it crashes before I get to the main menu.

I'm new here, so I'm sorry if I've missed something obvious.

//EDIT

Alright, I got the game to start. It's still crashing when I try to move people in from Edit Town though.

First lets see what's causing your crash. A number of things can cause the game to crash. You can use this handy tool to see basically what caused your game to crash:
http://www.modthesims.info/download.php?t=416883

the crash log will let you know basically what caused the crash (DEP, bad custom content, memory issues, etc) and what you can do about it.

Hello,

Did you use the crack from the expansion, or from the fix?

I used it from the expansion to begin with, then I went back and used the fix.

I am having the same issue as well. I've used the ultimate fix, changed my DEP settings, ran it as an administrator and it still keeps crashing shortly after I move my Sim in.

Did you follow all the instructions carefully when applying the ultimate fix? Make sure you are using the correct .exe crack.

you run the crash log analyzer? What did it tell you about your crash?

I ran the crash log analyzer several times, the first two times it said my graphics card had insufficient capabilities or to get it checked out for instabilities. I have an intel HD graphics card which, according to "Can you run it " is fine. I did, however, update my graphics card driver.

The next two times it said "warning: Updates available - The Sims 3 World....."
I'm not sure what i did but the fifth time i ran the analyzer it said data execution prevention was the issue. I dont see how bc I followed the guide on this forum to fix it but i guess ill try again.

Update:

After changing my DEP settings it crashed again. The analyzer said it was my graphics card again. *sigh*

Hello,

Would you mind opening a new topic? It'll be easier for us to keep track of everyone's problems and to give more personal support, because similar problems can have very different solutions.

I already posted this before I saw the request for the new topic. I guess my response can be copied and pasted in the new topic? Sorry for the inconvenience.

Are you positive that you correctly turned of DEP for the Sims 3 (TSW.exe)? Double check.

I think for the other crashes .... it's your graphics card.
The specs you need to run just the base game are lower than the specs you need to run the base game plus additional packs. Make sure that you are adding the additional requirements of each expansion and stuff pack when you calculate if you can run it on your computer. If your graphics card isn't strong enough you can replace it if you have a desktop. If you have a notebook computer, then I don't know what to to tell you because those can't be easily replaced. Try playing with the graphics and everything on the lowest setting and see if that helps.

As for the 'warning, updates available,' just make sure that your game is updated to patch 1.34. If you game is fully updated to patch 1.34 then disregard the 'updates available' warning.
