Question about VPN

Post by wildsimmer on Wed 11 Jul 2012, 20:58

Hi,

I'm currently using a VPN (Hotspot Shield). So I was just wondering if using a VPN
prevents my ISP from seeing what I'm downloading? (or anyone for that matter.)

Thanks!

Hello,

Good question. Not one I can answer though. I'll relay this message to Admin and he probably has an answer.

Hello,

I'm not 100% sure whether it also works with Bittorrent downloads, you should contact Hotspot Shield! for an answer to that question. Sometimes such extras only come with a Premium version or something.

But in theory a VPN leads your internet connection through a tunnel; your ISP can't look into that (encrypted) tunnel. They can see that you're using bandwidth, but not what you're exactly doing.
