If you do manage to get it up, I'd be willing to help too.

Maybe splitting the file itself in two, and just labeling the rars to let us know which ones the files are?

How large is it? A file uploaded to mediafire can be 200MB.

Ouch.
That's probably why you're starting to experience problems, my largest save game is 45MB.
I have found this site that allows you to upload upto 2GB and it sends the link to email. You could email the link to yourself and place it here.

Hello,

I think you've been playing your town for quite a while, lots of generations, lots of sims and lots. I only play small worlds because of my low-end pc, it helps decrease game-lag.

My entire saves folder is smaller than that. My largest is 54.3MB. And that's a 4 generation family, in Starlight Shores.

How long have you been playing yours? Shocked

What size town are you using, and how large is your family? Those could definitely affect the save size. I also use a couple mods to keep overpopulation from happening. Story Progression by Twallan has a population cap option to help.

Another thing that can really clog up save games is memory creation. Master Controller, by the same creator, has an option to turn memory creation off.

Even if you don't get any of the extras or use those mods for anything else, they can be overall helpful if your computer and game can handle them.

Re: A question :).[SOLVED]

Post by Aɾყα on Fri 20 Jul 2012, 10:52

Hello,

Actually, I'm using both mods on my low end pc (2GHZ AMD sempron, 1 GBRAM) and a few more. I sacrificed the stuff packs for the mods actually.
I have Story progression (+extra and expanded), Master Controller (+cheats and Integration) , Overwatch, Errortrap, Traveler, Register, Porter and from modthesims "Housecleaning for everyone" apart from no intro, no build sparkles, the store fixes and a large package of medieval CC.
I'll go download both your files now and see what my game can make of them. To maximize the chance for success, I'll remove my mods folder (except Errortrap&Porter I guess) and my saves.

I'll get back to you later today, it'll be a while before I can report back!

Edit: Your initial save game totally crashed my pc Shocked so I'm going to try something else.

Edit2: It's a no-go on my end I'm afraid. I've downsized the file folder and still it won't load. It's stuck at about 5% of loading, just like before and I have to force the pc to shut down to even get out of it. But perhaps you can try what I tried yourself. Remove the following files from the save folder:
-China export package
-China NHD file
-France export package
-France NHD file
-TravelDB package

I left the pc alone for 10 minutes and there was no progress at all, even the game tips were stuck. I reset the pc before starting the game and used Gamebooster to end unneeded processes. I even disabled Utorrent for the occasion. But it didn't work. I hope invalidusername has more luck.

I think it might load on my system, but I've run into an issue. I sadly don't have pets anymore. Give me another day or so so that I can get it back on my system and we'll see what happens from there.

It does need the base mod too. That's what allows those extras to be run. I don't even use any extras with story progression anymore. Very Happy

EDIT:: I got the game to load up. Really love that house.

Do you just want the family, or do you want all the relationships preserved? And do you also want the house?

Re: A question :).[SOLVED]

Post by invalidusername on Sat 21 Jul 2012, 07:23

First I'm going to try to just clean up the save a bit, possibly make it a bit more workable with. I may be able to save this town for you. If I can't do that, I may end up having to mess around with some different ideas to get the family saved for you with all the animal relationships intact. The actual sim family relationships will stay together just fine since they all live in the same house and nobody has died yet.

Getting you the house back won't be an issue at all. Smile

The only ways I really know are the things I'm using to decrease the file size. Using master controller and disabling memories, and making the population size shrink. I'm not too sure, but restricting travels may also help, since those create other pieces in the file.
