Post by krayzie on Fri 27 Jul 2012, 21:36

Hello,

i'm gonna start by saying i just love what u guys do here..Smile

ok i have a problem with sims 3 and i'm gooooing crazy

i downloaded the sims 3 and all expansion packs from here...14 of them if i'm right...i installed and followed every instruction correctly...i used the ultimate fix...as for installing the 1.36patch manually i didnt because even tho i downloaded it from here when i tried to install it,it said that i already have that patch..i guess the game was updated while installing the expansions,so i figured i didnt have to do it again...

my problem is that after 10-20minutes of playing sims 3 (counting from the moment i open the launcher) the game crashes it just turns me to desktop it sayz it isnt responding and thats it...

i dont have any costum content...no downloads..nothing at all except the games.

laptops performance:

Processor: Intel(R) Core(TM) i5-2410m CPU @ 2.30GHz 2.30Ghz
Installed Mmemory (Ram) : 8.00GB
System type: 64-bit Operating System (windows 7)

let me know if u need more info

can u pleasee help me i really want to play..

thanks

almost forgot if u dont understand something that i said, sorry but english isnt my first language

Can you please post your graphics cards details as well. Found by typing 'DXDIAG' into the start menu, after that go to the display tab and it should be next to- Name and Chip Type

I believe I see the problem, your saying your laptop came with a sticker saying it has a gt540m, when your laptop is actually using onboard (very slow and NOT meant for gaming)

Go to the start menu, type Device Manager.
Go to Display Adapters
There should be two there, one indicating your onboard one indicating your dedicated. (Like this)

If only your onboard is there reply back so I can help you get your dedicated graphics card drivers back.

Okay if both are there I don't know how else to help. I was thinking it was because you were running off a onboard but it doesn't seem like that anymore.

Hello,

I really don't know how to help you with that either, it would seem that if you have 2 options that you could take your pick. Perhaps Admin can share his thoughts.
I do recommend not using the laptop on your lap. Of course there's ventilation on the sides but your body heat doesn't exactly help to keep it cool.

Hello,

Please download and apply this driver: http://www.nvidia.co.uk/object/notebook-win7-winvista-64bit-301.42-whql-driver-uk.html
During the installation, choose "Custom" and then "Clean installation" (or something like that).
After installing the driver, restart your PC and test the game. Good luck!

i installed the driver but still it wont show in dxdiag....i installed the other program that u told to in chat speccy ...it sayz thhis on graphics information

Monitor
Name Generic PnP Monitor on Intel HD Graphics Family
Current Resolution 1366x768 pixels
Work Resolution 1366x728 pixels
State enabled, primary
Monitor Width 1366
Monitor Height 768
Monitor BPP 32 bits per pixel
Monitor Frequency 60 Hz
Device \\.\DISPLAY1\Monitor0

OpenGL
Version 4.2.0
Vendor NVIDIA Corporation
Renderer GeForce GT 540M/PCIe/SSE2
GLU Version 1.2.2.0 Microsoft Corporation

and some other stuff but i didnt copy it....as for the temperature it sayz
47°C to 52°C for processor,48°C to 52 °C for mother board and 34°C to 37°C for HDD

i dont know if it was like this since i bought it but i saw this when u told me to check it I is confused

AFTER 20MINUTES[b]

The game is working good it loaded very fast now...just a littile lag and that is when the game is on speed 3 and i am moving the cursor

but the problem is that the processor temp goes up to 75°C to 92°C same for mother board and it mostly stays on 87°C thats toooo high i guess...(still not showing the nvidia in dxdiag)

any opinions ?Razz

Hello,

90°C is still way too much for a laptop. If it stays like that, your PC will probably melt, lol.
I can try to help with the NVIDIA GPU not showing up, but it's not really an issue, if you ask me. As long as the game works, you're fine.
The speeding up lag is probably a bug. Are you on the latest version of the base game, version 1.36?

It may be a sensor problem or you really have to contact the store where you got the laptop from.

Hello,

If it really is that hot, you would burn yourself touching it.
The lag you mention at speed 3 is very common, unless you use it often (aside from sims sleeping or working).
