game won't load up

Post by jane89 on Fri Aug 10, 2012 8:28 pm

Goes through the first stage of loading up to the saves menu, once I select the game I want to play, it goes on to load up the game but the green bar doesn't load move and it stays in loading mode forever. Recently downloaded some CC which doesn't seem to be conflicting or corrupt, and repackaged it and compressed it. Tried to remove it and load up the game once more, but it made no difference. Not sure what's suddenly causing the issue.

I have all the packs up until Showtime, and the newest update. The Ultimate Fix has been applied but didn't solve the issue. The game has been loading up and working fine for me for a long time, until now.

Hello,

Backup and remove this folder, please: Documents\Electronic Arts\The Sims 3
After that, start the game and let us know the result.

Wouldn't removing that folder prevent the game from working at all since it holds all the files? Maybe i'm confusing something.

Hello,

No, don't worry, when you launch the game, it'll re-create that folder.
Don't confuse it with the folder where you actually installed the game: C:\Program Files (x86)\Electronic Arts\The Sims 3\

It loaded up fine after I removed the folder. What does this mean? I went through all my CC to make sure it's fine before I put it into the game.

Hello,

Did you test your new cc before repackaging it? Is it an entirely new package or did you add them to an existing one?
The dashboard gets most, not all problems with cc. If there's any way to test your game without your new cc, it would be a good idea to try it.
If you did add them to an existing package, there's no need to panic because it's not impossible to remove them. Though unfortunately, this is the best tutorial I could find.

As mentioned in the original post, yes, the CC was checked through different sources before added to the game. Though not foolproof, I've had no issues thus far. I just tried the game without the CC by completely removing the Sims 3 folder entirely.

Hello,

What I meant was a test run with the items in game. If that went well, there's no reason to assume this new cc is the cause of the problem.

What I did was ran the game with 20-60 packages at a time (repackaged, compressed files) to narrow down if any were causing the problem. Some were making the game not load up. Currently, the game loads up, however, suddenly it's become very unresponsive and crashes within 5 minutes. Sometimes it just closes with no messages, other times with just a windows message that it's not responding and gives me the option to close the program. Game used to work fine before, now it's messing up and I'm not sure why. It definitely wasn't this slow or unresponsive and hasn't crashed in a long time.

Hello,

That would suggest either a corrupted or conflicted package.
You cleared the caches after each test run?

Yes. Sorry, I misspoke. It wasn't packaged/compressed files, it was mod packages. Tested all and ceared cache in between.

Hello,

Is it possible that one of these conflicts with another. Not all mods play well together. I see you have a number of different "pose" mods which don't always go well together. Or at least, that is what I read during my extensive searches, I've never used any myself.
What if you had the game generate a fresh "The Sims 3" folder in Documents\Electronic Arts? Then restore your saves, mods and downloads folders.

Nice wordplay!

And euhhhh... I might had this Mod called "Breast_size_slider" once... long time ago. But unfortunately for me, it never worked.

You'd no longer need it anyway since it's a default function of CAS now.

Will try that. And yes, yes, ***** mods, boobie mods, etc etc lol! I used to do a blog for sims stories.

//EDIT

Removed the Sims 3 folder, the game created a new one, I transported all the files there, and upon loading up the game crashed.

Try making a new one, and running without your mods/saves first. Then we'll work from there.
