The greying is normal as the game has to load the items into memory. The more items you have the longer they take to load, also if the item(s) is/are CC and they have a high polygon count, they will take a bit longer to load.

The better your GPU is and the more memory you have available, the faster these items will load. My rig takes about 3-4 seconds to load all the items in my mansion ( I have a lot of CC in the mansion), during that load time though the items are grey until they finish loading.

No I'm not saying that at all. I'm saying that the greying is normal (unless its taking forever to load the items) and that, depending on how many items you have on the lot, it may take anywhere from a few seconds to a minute or two for everything to load. You can cut the load time down by lowering the graphics settings of the game under Options/Video settings, but with 8 GB of RAM I wouldn't sweat it unless the loading time is over 3-4 minutes.

Lol I use an Nvidia 7600GS. Which works fine I might add. Of course your gpu is good enough. You just have to be a little more patient. Remember that while entertaining, The Sims will be and always has been a pain in the you know where for everyone.

No the problem doesn't go away completely even with a higher end machine, unless its a super computer that is Very Happy
The problem is the game engine itself and how it sends 3D data for rendering.

Thanx for the replys...

i kinda thought so..........

//EDIT

Ha Ha, so here's an update on this subject.....

AMD Phenom II x4 965

Asus M5A99FX pro R2.0 MB

16 gig of ram

EVGA GTX 660 2gig

and i belive almost everything is on max settings @ 1920x1080

This so far has got rid of the rendering problem, i would say 99% of it..

this is a 100X better to play this way....
