Sunlit Tides not showing up in game

Post by CaeraBlue on Mon 10 Sep 2012, 07:43

Hi,

I've bought Sunlit Tides and it has installed successfully (after much pain), but it isn't appearing in the drop down to select a town to play...
I'm all patched and updated and my other content works fine. The funny thing is that in the Launcher it lists Sunlit Tides as an object and not a world... but in the The Sims 3/InstalledWorlds file it appears with .world
I know you've said that you don't really do Mac help, but I've been at this all day for four days now (I wish I was exaggerating!) and I've looked everywhere and tried everything I could find with no success.
I've tried:
- Decrapifying it
- Uninstall/reinstall
- Your "How to install sims correctly" thing
- Your "Sims3pack/installed world inaccessible or wont install fix"
- Your "Ultimate Fix"
- many other things including contact with EA (they've been no help)

I would appreciate absolutely anything you can offer. As I said I know you don't do Mac stuff, but I figure it's worth asking just in case Smile

Thanks heaps!
P.S. Super useful site you have here, you've fixed all the other issues I've had over these 4 days!

Hi! I had the same problem. The instructions on Mods Reloaded linked here: http://games4theworld.bestgoo.com/t6954-sunlit-tides-not-in-town-dropdown-list-solved#49255 solved it, but I downloaded Sunlit Tides, so there may be steps you don't have to/shouldn't do. If you want to try that, though, backup your stuff. Oh, and if s3rcBatch opens as a text document, just uncheck 'Hide extensions for known file types' and delete the .txt.

Hello,

I'm not sure that works on Mac though, because that program is an .exe.
I'd try to download it from our (new) mediafire account, once the worlds are up, Admin hasn't quite finished uploading everything yet but he will.

Hey,

Thanks for the reply. I've tried your suggestion though, with no luck. I guess I'll try it again fingers crossed.
I'll let you know how it goes Smile

//EDIT

Hey,

Tried these options... No luck again Sad
Would decrapifying this be a possible solution?
I
have tried to, but maybe I was doing it wrong... does anyone know how
to do it for Macs? if not maybe a link to a good guide? I'm looking for a
guide, but not being too successful Sad

Thanks again!

Hello,

Unfortunately the tools to decrapify are for PC only. But not to worry, all the sims3packs on G4TW's Mediafire account have been decrapified. The neighbourhoods aren't up yet, but the folder wasn't up this morning and it is now so I suspect it won't be long at all.

Hey,

Thanks for this guys. I'll give them a go!
Hope I'm done with these problems... you know, until I install the Supernatural Expansion I just bought Rolling Eyes

//EDIT

Hey,

I downloaded your Sunlit Tides from Mediafire and it
installed successfully (it said), but it still isn't appearing in the
drop down in game...
What have I done wrong??

Thanks (sorry to be such a pain!)

Hello,

Try this, please: http://games4theworld.bestgoo.com/t2208-sims3pack-installed-world-inaccessible-or-wont-install-fix

//EDIT

Oh, you're on a Mac.
On a Mac you should be able to find the "Documents" folder by right-clicking on "The Sims 3" under "Applications". Then select "Show package contents" and navigate to: Contents/Resources/trangaming/ - you should see a folder called "Documents" here.

Um... the only folders in Contents/Resources/Transgaming are: c_drive and f_drive. Definitely no documents folder. However I can find the documents folder by following the steps in: http://games4theworld.bestgoo.com/t2208-sims3pack-installed-world-inaccessible-or-wont-install-fix by going to Documents\Electronic Arts\The Sims 3. but I have previously tried this fix (and I've tried again just now) and it didn't work Sad
Am I doing it wrong?
I'm so frustrated at EA for not just selling things that work!
Thanks heaps for your help so far!!

Hello,

If you run the game once, there should really be a "Documents" folder under Contents/Resources/Transgaming uughh.

You know what? I'll leave this one up to Lady ElDi too. Very Happy

I tried to do the one in that link (moreawesomethanyou) but I don't have a \GameData\Shared\NonPackaged\Worlds folder?? Seriously. It isn't anywhere. Am I supposed to create it myself because I really didn't get the impression I needed to...

Hey,
I'm not really sure what it is you suggest I try? The link you quoted from Lady ElDi I have already tried, with no success.

Hey,

I tried to do this solution, but I don't have the GameData folder I'm supposed to drop the .world file into??
I've been silly enough to post on there about it. I've received a lot of insults, but so far no one seems to have any way of fixing it...
Thanks for being a friendly Forum haha
Did you have any other ideas? I'm getting pretty desperate to fix this.
Thanks

Just thought I'd give an update. I ran into some problems later on that were unrelated to this installation which forced me to reinstall my base game and ep's from scratch. Installing the neighborhoods after this reinstall made everything work perfectly the way people describe their installations in the pc section. All the info you described in sunlit tides which was originally missing shows up now, and I didn't have to move any files, they all automatically moved on their own.

Reinstallation is such a pain though : /
