Re: question about installing new expansions' [SOLVED]

Post by Adwomin on Sun 16 Sep 2012, 13:02

Hello,

I'm online on the Forum daily, but don't have time to actually help via TeamViewer every time I log in.
But when I do, I'll certainly join the chatbox when I see someone online there.

Re: question about installing new expansions' [SOLVED]

Post by rockin on Sun 16 Sep 2012, 20:18

hello admin.
i already downloaded the base game and although technically i know how to reinstall it, i prefer you will do it for us since it is involved with many expansions, and because it is important for us to save all that is There in the game so we can use it again , otherwise my doughtier will kill me:shock: , she spent lot of time to build all that. and I'm not sure if i can do it properly.
I'll try to catch you on the forum.

//EDIT

hello admin.
I'm know you are very busy , no complaining, on the contrary, grateful for all your help.
what do you think about the idea that I'll try to reinstall the game
by myself, I'm only asking for someone to guide me how to save for 100 %
all that was in the game, so we can use it again.
thank you.

here is my plan:
1.copy electronic art folder from my doc. to desktop . for saves backup.
2.uninstall the base game, while living all expansions installed.
3.reinstall the new downloaded base game.
4.
do again every thing by the latest fix steps.( with already installed
expansions) including apply the manual patch for 1.38 ver. if necessary.
5.put back electronic art folder, or only saves ??? to my doc.

of course if you'll have the time for it i prefer it will done by you. Very Happy

Yeah, those steps look good, make sure you attempt to play and such before doing step 5, just to check that it's installed correctly.

right now i have the electronic art folder copied to desktop and also still in my doc. should it stay like this when i'm reinstalling?
and what exactly do i copy back from this folder when i'll finish?

Do a copy of the one of your desktop back to the Documents/Electronic Arts/The Sims 3, it should work, but if you lose something, will have the one copy of it on your desktop still, reply once you do test it, to see if it does work or if there is a issue.

1.so you sure that if i have a copy of that folder on desktop i''l be able to reuse all we had before?
2.when i'' do all that should i live the original electronic art folder in my doc? ?
3.do you think it's ok to live the already installed expansions (some of them new, some before problem started) and use them again (according to the fix- i mean copy and replace again all needed kracs etc.) after reinstall new base game?

Hello,

1. Correct! Just put back that folder after the reinstallation.
2. You may want to remove the "The Sims 3" folder in Documents\Electronic Arts\ prior to reinstalling.
3. Just leave them untouched, reinstall the base game and then continue with step 2: http://games4theworld.bestgoo.com/t1171-must-read-how-to-install-the-sims-3-correctly - NOTHING else!

Don't forget to restart your PC after uninstallation and prior to (re-)installation.
Also, I'm sorry about not being online too much, I'm quite busy. I think I'll be available tomorrow in the evening, after about 16-17PM, GMT+1.

Re: question about installing new expansions' [SOLVED]

Post by rockin on Mon 17 Sep 2012, 23:05

it didn't worked.
did everything as guided.
tried to open the game right after installing the new base game and it's crack, before using the manual patch, and it gave me a massage " you are using unauthorized copy.... .but the game operates, without expansions.
after applying the patch it went back to : " there was an error during startup..... etc"

edit: put the 2 files from the fix "base game" folder instead of "crack" folder . the launcher now opens without the above massage and the game ver shows 1.38 but then comes " unable start game... ( 0x024e424 )."
when i go over the base game at the bottom line icons it's grey and shows ver. 0000
and also some of the expansions icons are also grey and not blinking.

when i returned the files from the crack folder in the fix it went back to : " there was an error during startup..... etc"

i repeated again all that said in the fix guide, still the same problem.

Have you tried to Install Supernatural? Let us know the results.

If you manage to install it, go ahead and install the others you want to, and then apply the Ultimate Fix.

Supernatural is one of the new expansions i installed.
didn't have issues while installing any of them.
i actually did what you are suggesting.
maybe one of the expansions i installed is defected and i should install then one by one and check after each?
but i downloaded all of them from this site.

Could have had a issue with downloading them with the torrent client.

So first compare your .rar's to the follow, if they are all the same size, might need to re-extract them to use those files.

Sizes: The sizes that TPB say are Supernatural: 2.9 GiB (3109990929 Bytes), Diesel Stuff: 1.06 GiB (1143299281 Bytes), Katy Perry Sweet Treats: 1.08 GiB (1162186310 Bytes)

Hello,

Glad to hear you like our services and the game is working fine now! Very Happy
Enjoy playing for now, and please let me know when the expansions are done downloading!

t2sink wrote:So what was the solution, just to be have a better knowledge of some of them?
The games were a little bit installed messy, so after trying a lot of things, I just went for a completely clean reinstallation.
