Relationship bar glitch/bug? [SOLVED]

Post by DrKennethNoisewater on Fri 21 Sep 2012, 04:52

Two of my Sims have been married from young adults to mid adult life but one day the relationship bar went down to the very bottom of the red end and hated each other. No matter how many times they interacted with each other, the bar never seems to go up, or at least if it does it's only briefly. When they talk casually it says that they think they're "being okay" etc but the bar never raises. I can understand if some sims just don't match well but these guys have been married for ages so clearly there's a bug.
Can anyone shed any light on this? Crying or Very sad

//EDIT

Also I've only seen one guy on like Yahoo answers or something with the same problem, no one replied. ha

Heh, probably just a issue with EA, can use testingcheatsenabled true and move the bar back to full if you wish.

But also should check you don't have any mods interacting with it, move your Documents/Electronic Arts/The Sims 3, to your desktop, but then again you'll need to move the family back in, so start up, make a new family, save/quit, and see where it is, and move the family your playing with the issue to folder with the new family.

I tried the testchingcheats before which worked temporarily but as soon as they went to bed the bar was back down in the morning.
But I'll try your second option and hope it's just some custom content that's affecting it.
Thanks for your help!

Ok so in a moment of madness I decided to sort this out during gameplay:

Firstly I moved in a copy of my family (just a married couple) into their house, so with doubles of them running around I managed to find out that it was the original female sim that seemed to be the issue. Whenever she was around people would shout and instantly dislike her, never seeming to be able to build on the relationship etc etc.

So with that in mind I tried to kill off the original female sim and the male double and attempt to recreate their marriage with this female double.
I used the technique of building a room around them and waiting for the Grim Reaper to do his thing.

They both died and just as the Grim Reaper banished (if that's the right word to use?) my female sim underground, some stray dog came along and resurrected the original female!

So I tried my luck with repairing their marriage with the original sims and it worked fine! The relationship bar progressed as normal, so I moved out the extra double sim I had and everything went back to how it was.

I literally have no idea why this strange turn of events actually worked but IF by any chance someone else had the same issue, that definitely worked for me aha!

Well, glad you manage to get this issue fixed, sorry we had no idea how to help you. But yeah if someone else does have this problem, we can show them this.

Thanks for Sharing!
