"Inset Disk" Error...I've tried everything!

Post by sarrsam13 on Fri 09 Nov 2012, 21:00

Hello!
So I have The Sims 3, World Adventures, Ambitions, Late Night, Generations, Pets, and Showtime all downloaded.

I have read the instructions very carefully on how to install and I know that I did it right because it was working for a while. Recently my game started freezing and crashing and now it says to please insert the CD.

I have the Ultimate fix downloaded.
I am updated to 1.42

I was updated to that before I tried to ultimate fix.
I all of the files in their respective folders, including the "showtimes/pets/supernatural, etc" in the sims 3/game/bin, and the crack in the sims 3/game/bin, not in the expansions folder.
But everytime I start it up it still says that I need to insert the "Showtime" game disc.

Please help me and tell me what I am doing wrong! I have literally tried to read every instruction on this site and tried to fix it multiple times, following everything step by step but it still isn't working.
Thank yoU!

Hello,

Please show us a detailed screenshot of the folder you copied the crack to.

Hello !

Since I'm having the same Issue, I'll post a screenshot...
I had the "Invalid File" error after 1.42 was supposed to be done installing, so I put
back the Original TS3W and TSLhost for the patch not to whine anymore.
It did install, but then gave me the "Please insert Showtime blabla"
issue once I replaced them byt the Ultimate fix ones.
In the worst case, Seasons is coming out any days now, but we never know.

(The little _TS3W and _TSLhost thingies are the official orignal Files I keep, just in case)
Note that I am also used to the Ultimate fix, meaning, it's not the first time I've done all this.
Also, I have all the expansion Packs installed.

Thank you in advance !

Hello,

I can barely make it out, but it doesn't look like you have the crack in there, look at the dates. The ones you keep as backup are more recent than the ones you think are the crack.
Don't forget the last thing to do is to copy the files from the #crack folder in the fix to this location. These look like they are from the Supernatural & Diesel Stuff & Katy Perry Sweet Treats & Showtime & Master Suite Stuff & Pets & Town Life Stuff & Generations folder, not the #crack folder.

For future reference: Please do open a new topic even if you have the same problem. That makes it easier for us to keep track of which topics are solved and which aren't.

Personally I have found using Twallans No CD mod is a great option when you are unsure about where exactly to place the crack

I've just tried Twallan's NoCD mod as you mentionned, and it didn't work either. Drat.
But thank you for mentionning it, I have to admit I didn't think of it n_n

Dont want to sound n00bie, but isn't Twallan's and Nraas' NoCD mod the same one ?
I think Twallan is the creator and the mod and Nraas the hosting website for it...

If not, sorry for not knowing, and thank you for telling me ;D

Well I did try Nraas mod (the link you sent) thinking it was Twallan's, and haven't found anything about the said mod anywhere else either... So my guess is that it's the same mod, therefore, it's not working WhatDidUJustCallMe?

How did you try starting the game with the mod added and do you have the framework from MTS to make sure it's in the right place?

Just you can't use the launcher with that mod, you have to go into your program files and create a new shortcut directly to the TS3.exe to get it to start up, once I had that all done I never had the insert cd error again

http://nraas.wikispaces.com/NoCD

That is the direct address for the mod for anyone interested in it, he keeps all his mods updated and checked to make sure they work

Same link, same thing, won't work n_n
But what do you mean by "create a new shortcut directly to the TS3.exe to get it to start up" ?

Thing is : If I want to use the Crack from the folder [Supernatural, Showtime blablabla...] in my Sims 3 Folder, it gives me two things :
- When I try and start with the launcher, I get the Insert Showtime Disk bla thing
- When I try and start with TS3W.exe, nothing happens.
If I put the Crack from the [#Crack] Folder :
- Does the same thing from the launcher
- Starts with TS3W.exe, but tells me I get the "Unofficial Game Modification Error", and the game crashes while in the loading screen.

Personally I would uninstall them one by one until I was back at the stage where I could play and was getting no errors, unfortunately this could even result in a full reinstall, then I would slowly add them one by one checking each one to make sure they were working, making sure I had removed all mods before hand. Right now it's just a case of taking away what you know doesn't work and getting to a state where you are working and then building from that so we can get it sorted for you.

Yea, I was thinking of that as well...

But then I think I'll just wait to get Seasons and try with the new Crack. If it still doesn't work, then I'll go through the painful processus of uninstalling/reinstalling.

Hope !! cheers

Okay, I'm having the same problem, I followed all the instructions, I'm currently waiting on the manual patch to download cause that's the only other instruction though I've never had problems downloading the patches, so I'm posting my problem cause I don't think it will help.

Firstly, didn't have a sims3/game/bin folder so I created one to put the patch in, that's probably the problem.... So when I run through launcher I get the no disc error, someone said go through the thingy from the crack folder and when I do that it comes up with "unable to start game service intitilization failed"

What should I do? Preferably if an iso file was made available I'd take that, its much simpler and I've never had a problem with them with any of the other expansion packs.

Just installed Seasons, and I faced the same problem...

Then it occured to me that...

It seems like I'm just a giant Noob Douchebag... I obviously forgot to remove the AwesomeMod after I updated my game... So, I did. And it works JUUUUST FINE.

So, here's my solution : Think before doing anything, and don't forget to remember that SOME MODS NEED TO BE UP TO DATE. Silly me.

PS : Sorry LadyEldi, I've haven't seen your message before (weirdly enough...), I did put the crack in the folder, I might just have gotten the wrong UltimateFix (since I saved one on another). Also, sorry for not creating my own topic, I thought it would actually be more comfortable for all of you not to have the same problem spammed on one topic. My bad ! Won't happen again ! n_n
