I have read the installation instructions.

Post by trashlove on Sat 17 Nov 2012, 06:15

And I still don't understand. Maybe I am dumb?

This is the thing, I have bought and own these disks: Sims 3 base game, Ambitions, World Adventures, Generations and Pets. I am trying to install Supernatural. I used utorrent to download the .zip then extracted. Found the installation guide. Tried to open Sims3EP07Setup.exe and it said that it installed incorrectly and gave me the option to either reinstall using recommended settings or "this program installed correctly"

Either way, nothing happens.

I have read and reread the instructions, I have watched the youtube videos. I've reached out to multiple people for help with no response. I sincerely *don't understand* why there isn't a HI-IM-A-NEWB step by step installation guide.

I also don't understand the whole ultimate fix thing. My game says it is version 10.0.96.019017.

I guess long story short is, I have no clue what I'm doing and I've managed to completely confuse myself and my head is about to explode.

I see everyone that it works for and it just makes me feel even more stupid.
I would really, really appreciate any help that can be given to help me understand where I have gone wrong.

Thank you all so much in advance, and also for a website full of useful information and interesting things to read Smile

//EDIT

I figured it out.

I would say thanks for the help, but I got none.

So, thanks.

The bolded is the issue I'm having. My legit games are: the base game, Ambitions, WA, LN, and Showtime. I have the torrents for Generations, Pets, and Supernatural. I used utorrent to download and 7zip for the .zip

HELP

//EDIT

Ok, I figured it out!

I had a really DUH moment for this one...

jbug, make sure that you extract the files. You can't run the .exe from the archive

HI Sorry I didn't get to you sooner, I was out on date night with the mister.

YAY I'm so glad you figured out your issue! My problem was that the program to unzip was installed incorrectly and it was telling me that but I thought it meant the game!

After I got all those silly kinks worked out I actually had another problem, if your game installs but then won't load to play (mine actually said it had stopped working and gave me the option to go online to find a solution or end the program) just go to the ultimate fix. It's a tad laborious but it fixed mine and I played all morning while the hubby was at work. Bliss.

I had a very hard time getting help on this website, and unfortunately everything online is so vague. I'm not a computer whiz, I get on tumblr, facebook and play sims. period. I need things written out very specifically and dumbed waaaaay down. I am going to work on something that will put the directions in an easy to understand format for someone who has NO CLUE and see if I can get the admin man to approve it. I literally was banging my head on my desk last night, lol.

If you have anymore trouble I am still watching this thread or you can message me!

//EDIT

Oh and yes, about the extracted files, you want to make sure it actually opens them in the new folder (mine went to documents)

If
you just installed winzip (or whatever you are using to unzip) you may
have to reinstall. Thats what I ended up having to do. Idk what was
wrong, it was weird. But reinstalling fixed it all, I clicked unzip and
bloop new folder with all the stuff in it Smile

Actually yes Smile

The game has been crashing. Everything will be going fine and then it will lock up for a few seconds and then the screen will go black and windows will say "Sims3 has stopped responding" and let me close the program. It is progressively getting worse/more frequent. This last time I got the problem info from windows and I was going to do some searching.

I installed the ultimate fix when the game wouldn't start the day I downloaded it, and it worked fine that whole day. Should I do the ultimate fix again?

I also went in and cleaned out my custom content, but the problem persisted so I don't think thats the issue.

I appreciate you asking and any help would be awesome Smile

alsooo, this is the program error info from windows:

Hello,

Sorry about all the late replies. We've all been very busy with real life as well as well as the forum that has been super busy even before Seasons was released.
Anyway, there are a few possible solutions for your current problem listed here.
