Hello,

Yes, you can fully update it and it looks like a 100% genuine version of Windows 7. So, yes, you can also update to SP1.

Sorry if this is stupid but after I download the rar file I extract the files and just burn the .iso file to a dvd right? Cause I can't boot from the dvd.

Scratch that I found out that the dvd doesn't boot anyway.

How can I install this on a system that currently has linux on it?

You can use USB if you like.
Make sure you format your HDD before installing new window Smile

Hello,

Yes, you're not able to boot from the burned .ISO; it was a mistake when we created the torrent. The boot.ini wasn't included.
Anyhow, can't you run the setup by starting your PC up normally and then inserting the DVD. (Just like you'd install software from a DVD)

Hello,

I don't have my copy of the original disc here, but I can have the disc in like... 1-2 days. I'll post it here, when I have the boot.ini, OK?
(I have to answer a lot of questions, so could you please post here again on Tuesday, reminding me to get the boot.ini ?)

Hello,

You can just add the boot.ini to the .ISO, using something like PowerISO, UltraISO etc.

Hello,

No, excuse mé for the late reply. I have been looking and looking, but I can't find the discs I'm looking for. They were here like a week ago...
I'll do some more looking to see if I can find them here. Please be patient, sorry.

Hello,

This is kind of embarrassing... I swear it was here on my table, just a week ago...

Sorry, I really don't know what happened to it. :S I'll keep on looking.

Admin
I decided to borrow my mate's pc, which had xp installed on it and hook the hdd upto mine and install windows 7 on my partitioned disk from there. It got most of the way through by then it cancelled the installation saying "Windows could not prepare the computer to boot into the next phase of installation. To install Windows, restart the installation." It has happened every time I have tried to install. Any ideas on what I could try next.

Hello again,

Well, I did some research and I found out that this problem may occur on overclocked systems. Maybe the below post can help you:

Someone wrote:Yeah !

I did a bios reset, so the overclock and stuff were gone, tried to install Vista again, and it works Very Happy

Thanks guys Smile

Although this was Vista, the error was the same.

Hello again,

Well, I did some research and I found out that this problem may occur on overclocked systems.

Admin,
I have learned from passed experiance that overclocking a system can be bad news so I try never to mess with the bois, except the usual stuff you know boot options etc, and always load the default values on any new system I own.

Anway I loaded the default values, wiped the partition and tried again and it stuck at the same point. Is there anything else I can try?

Hello,

Well, I'm really out of solutions at this point, sorry. Hmmm...
I can work on a fixed (Bootable) Windows 7 torrent.
