Sims 3 / Pets Glitch

Post by xllmtx on Sun 18 Nov 2012, 19:13

Hi, I have the latest versions of both the Sims 3 game and the
ultimate fix, but my pets (dogs and cats only - horses seem to be fine)
seem to have something long extending from
their heads? I'm pretty sure my graphics card is up to date so I'm
unsure as to what's causing this to happen
Crying or Very sad Pets
is currently the only expansion pack I have installed. There also seems
to be some sort of filter on my sims in create a family.. It seems like
their skin tones and clothing are lighter than they should be, for example when I choose to have a black trousers they look more grey.. Hope you can help me!

Hello,

Sure, if you can send me your graphic card model and the following information:

1. Operating system.
2. 32- or 64-bit.

So I can find the correct driver for you.
If you don't know how to find these, try Speccy from www.speccy.com .

I have the NVIDIA Geforce 6800, my operating system is:

Microsoft Windows Xp Home edition version 2002
Intel (R) Pentium (R)
4CPU 3.20GHz
3.19 GHz 1.00GB of RAM

I think it's 32 bit? Hope this helps

You only have 1 GB of RAM installed?

It's not really a huge problem, since it's the bare requirements for XP, but just make sure to close out of background task your don't need using at the time, like Instant Messengers and similar.

Hello,

Definitely close background tasks, though that will not do much for your graphics glitch. Your videocard is supposed to be supported, you probably need drivers.

Hey!
Yes I always make sure all other tasks are closed when playing the Sims - I make sure it's the only thing I have running. Is the 1GB of RAM going to cause me any problems? Hope somebody can help with what drivers I need to install
Shocked
Also, Here's how my pet looks if this helps:

Hello,

Oh yes that definitely looks like it could be caused by outdated drivers. Don't worry, Admin will find the driver for you. Check back later today for his reply.
It's not much, 1GB RAM, but it doesn't have to cause problems, if you keep your expectations low. I only have 1GB RAM myself and I am picky about which EP/SP's I use.

Hello,

This should be the correct driver, if I'm not mistaken: http://www.nvidia.co.uk/object/winxp-306.81-whql-driver-uk.html

Please use "Custom" and "Clean installation" during the installation, if possible.

Below the Color Circle, there is a slider, and it's all the way to the right, what happens if you move it to the left some?

I think The Sims 3 is just being racist.

//EDIT

What if you (again?) backup and remove this folder completely: Documents\Electronic Arts\The Sims 3 ?

Fortunately this seems to have resolved itself after installing Seasons.. Not sure how lol!
Seasons game is crashing quite a bit though, with sound disappearing and the message 'Sims 3 has encountered a problem and had to close' .. Wat.

Hello,

That seems to be a common issue, unfortunately. See if you can fix it by trying the suggestions here.
