Question About Changing 32bit to 64bit

Post by xMDNAx on Mon 03 Dec 2012, 15:01

Hello,

I recently changed my operating system from Windows 7 Professional to Windows 7 Ultimate using a pirated CD, so my original OS from factory is Professional but currently I'm on Ultimate. Is there any way that I can change it to 64bit without the original cd? I know you can use Windows Loader to activate it. My laptop is currently capable of changing to 64bit. I tried downloading the iso files for 64bit from piratebay but when I run it using Daemon tools, it says its not compatible.

Thanks Facepalm

Would need to do a clean installation, since 32-bit and 64-bit are code-wise different OS's.

You can either partition your harddrive a space big enough for another installation, like 50 GB at least. (Can be more, and expanded later.) Then go in and install Win 7 64 bit on the new partition.

I'm in the same issue, Had Win Vista Starter, which only came with 32-bit, and never checked my CPU until after I installed 7 to see if I could use 64-bit. Trying to debate on a way to install Win 8 on my laptop, but haven't spend enough time to figure out what I need to actually do for it.

Can I use G4TW's Windows 7 All Edition? I'll lose all my sims tho its gonna take a while to reinstall every single expansion pack. Heh, now I don't know if I should go to 64bit.

Is it worth it? Lol

G4TW version lacks boot files, so sadly no you can't use it to do the install.

32 bit is well enough for the time being, there isn't really a need to upgrade to 64 bit unless you have more then 3-4 GB of RAM, there are some other differences, but nothing that is needed heavily if you have to do a bit of work to install it.

I have been debating on how hard it would be to install Win 8 Pro on my laptop, which in effect wouldn't be too hard, just need to use my current harddisk instead of trying to upgrade to a SSD.

I think I'm just gonna stay 32bit. Thanks!
