MTS Crash Analyzer: Graphics Card Not Found. Only on saves! [SOLVED]

Post by zsc on Tue 11 Dec 2012, 20:34

I can start a new game and play just fine, but every time I try to play any saved game..."The Sims 3 has stopped working".

I used the MTS Crash Log Analyzer, and it said my graphics card, AMD M880G with ATI Mobility Radeon HD 4250, was not found.

Does anyone know any solutions?

Hello,

I doubt a problem with your graphicscard would present itself only when you try to load an existing game. But I've seen more of these crash log results that I just had to question.
Try the solutions here.

I turned my DEP off completely, I used the 4GB patch, my computer's requirements is well above the minimum, and I turned my game options to it's lowest settings, and it still crashes when trying to load saved games even though I can play new games just fine. The Crash Log Analyzer still cites the same reasons.

Hello,

Ok go to Documents\Electronic Arts\The Sims 3\Saves and look for your save file. Does it have a .bad extension?

No. Since yesterday I deleted my other save files and they did have that extension though. Now the one save file just has the .sims3 extension, and it keeps crashing while loading. What does .bad mean?

Hello,

That means it's a corrupted save, it's damaged beyond repair and won't load.
How about your current save file, is it a new game that you started recently?

Sorry for the late response. I've been busy.

I got it to work! First, I found the "GraphicsCards.sgr" file and added my graphics card to the list of approved graphics cards using a text editor (I use Notepad++). This is after I knew my graphics card was supported, but for some reason it wasn't on the list. I got my graphics card info from the ModTheSims Crash Log Analyzer. Then, I removed the Nraas Master Controller mod. Now my saved game loads fine.

I don't think that particular mod works well on Steam versions of the Sims 3. Now I know! Thanks for talking it out with me and providing solutions. It really helped my process.
