Hey again guys! I'm installing The Ultimate Fix, i've only replaced the base game files by now and when i open the launcher it shows the base game isn't installed, is it normal?

~~ EDIT ~~

So I'm trying to do the 11th step of the installation guide but the launcher doesn't even open now, an error message shows up, asking to check the Registry. But like it says on the installation guide, i've installed the manual patch, so, gonna continue.

//EDIT

Ugh the game won't even open. An error message shows up with (0x0175dcbb). Where did I go wrong???
I did everything by this topic http://games4theworld.bestgoo.com/t1171-must-read-how-to-install-the-sims-3-correctly and it still doesn't work. It's actually worse, since now it doesn't open...

I don't really know how to work with this, is it bad if there's no ErgcPathReg or ContentID? What if it's red? For instance, The Sims 3 Showtime executable was red but i pasted the files needed to the directory and changed it, but it's still red...

The only ones that matter (generally speaking) are the ones that are red. You shouldn't copy/paste files in order to make the red go away, you should use the browse button on the right hand side of the box that is red and point it to the correct file or directory. If it's red because you uninstalled that expansion pack, remove the check from the checkbox and when you click "Fix" the program will ask if you want to delete the keys that are in the registry but are not checked in the program.

If it's a ProductID that is red, then you'll need to find out what product ID it should be (1001 for the base game, then 2 for World Adventures, 3 for High-End Loft stuff, so on and so fort [the number is when it was released, which is the same as the first digit in the version number of that expansion]).

In that case, I forgot probably to pasted the files in the directory, that's why I copy+pasted it... But it's still red.

Why are you copying and pasting files? That's the real question here. The paths in the executable files (ie: TS3EP02.exe) are hard-coded, which means just because you move the TS3EP02.exe doesn't mean it's going to work unless you copied all of the files it will be needing to the proper locations as well.

When I installed that expansion pack I supposedly needed to paste the folders in it's directory and i must've forgotten because the Game/Bin only had the icon and another file. But whichever the cause I think it does have all the files since I copied all the four folders. But should I re-install it?

Re: Sims 3 crashes in buy/build mode.[SOLVED]

Post by hexorcist on Sat Dec 29, 2012 5:39 pm

I think you're confusing two different things here.

The game nor my tool checks the version of the files - in fact, the version in the executable's assembly is probably 0.1.0.1089. All the game and my tool does is check to see if the file that is pointed to in the registry exists - whether you copied it from the Ultimate Fix or not doesn't matter, just the existence matters. If the file exists, there will be no red in my program and the icon will be lit up in the launcher [the version comes from the "code_version.txt" file].

If it's red in my tool, the file doesn't exist. Also note that because changes are not saved immediately, and my tool is based on the registry information (not what is in the box) - the box will stay red until the registry is fixed. If you just changed one of the red boxes it will stay red until you click the "Fix" button, or export a .reg file and import it into the registry.

Oh ok, but I kinda of don't get it, if there's the file and the directory, why does it show red?

But if that's so, how can i fix the registry? Ive already run ccleaner.

For Showtime, have you clicked the "Fix" button? The red will not go away until the -registry- is correct, regardless of what is showing in my tool.

For Katy Perry's Sweet Treats: It seems as if it wasn't installed, you just clicked the checkbox on the left and selected a folder. I say that because everything except the Install Dir is the default value that my tool uses. For example, the locale is set to en-US (country: US) yet in Showtime it's showing pt-PT (PT). Another example would be the Product ID being 0 when it should be 13, and the Executable being Game\Bin\TS3SP06.exe instead of a full path to the file. Did you properly install Katy Perry's Sweet Treats?

Is clicking "Fix" enough to correct the registry? Because I already have clicked and it's still red. I think I installed Katy Perry's Sweet Treats properly but I'm gonna re-install it just in case.

Until you do, I'd remove the check because the game will be looking for it since it's in the registry and those values are not correct, which will cause issues. Then when you click the "Fix" button it will ask if you want to remove the values from the registry - click yes. This will also ensure that no values from a previous install are left over when you reinstall it.

Could we see a screenshot of your Showtime installation directory?

I closed and opened your tool and it's no longer red, do you still want the installation directory?

Nope, if it's not red then everything should be fine.

Katy Perry ST isn't red any more too! The only one still red it's Pets but I didn't properly install it or something, it wasn't even on the default directory, i hope it all goes well when i install it though. But that one isn't selected, so do you guys think I can try opening my launcher now?
