Is your uploaded copy of Win 7 32 or 64 bit? [SOLVED]

Post by Olivia de Bosanquet on Sun 23 Dec 2012, 16:31

Hey guys! I'm planning on installing your windows 7 on my mom's computer, which is a 32 bit. I have it installed in mine which is a 64 bit.

Also, Is there any way to convert my mom's computer from 32 bit to 64 bit?

Thanks!

Hello,

The copy contains all versions of Windows 7 in both 32- and 64-bit.
Though, it does not contain the boot files (Something went wrong in adding those), so you can only install from a running operating system.
If not booted from the disc, I don't think you can do a "Clean" installation, but only an upgrade.

But yes, you can always upgrade from 32-bit to 64-bit - assuming your hardware can handle it - by doing a clean installation. That means: completely formatting your Windows HDD and re-installing a 64-bit version of Windows.
