Windows 8 and Sims 3 not meant to be together?

Post by ardentika on Mon 24 Dec 2012, 10:29

So, basically my problem is absolutely the same as this one http://games4theworld.bestgoo.com/t1171-must-read-how-to-install-the-sims-3-correctly with the slight difference that I couldn't find a solution. I've noticed that when I patch up or update the game it starts (when there's no crack). Well, of course, when it loads it says that there's no CD bla-bla and shuts. When I put the crack, open the launcher and hit the play button, well nothing happens. Not even an error, just nothing.
Please, any ideas? I'm really stuck >.<

A lot of tech writers have said their opinion on gaming with Windows 8 - and my opinion is the same as theirs. Windows 8 is not designed for gaming and for best performance you should stick with Windows 7.

However, with that said, that doesn't mean The Sims 3 will not work properly on Win8. If you could, apply the crack then take a screenshot of you base game's installation directory showing the file sizes and modification dates ("Details" view).

Well I don't have a choice ,cause my computer works only with Windows 8, so ;/ I'm re0installing the game right now and when I'm done I will post the screenshot ;]

//EDIT

I've re-istalled the game and it worked just fine. I decided to add some
more expansions and to add the Mods and Downloads folders from my
previous game and when I tried to start the game I got this error

Hello,

That's from uninstalling/reinstalling without restarting the pc. Try this tool.

Actually, it turned out that Supernatural and Seasons are causing the problem ;/ I have no idea why, they are the latest versions, which makes no sense to be incompatible with Win8.

Only two things cause that error.

1) Corrupt user data in the My Documents\Electronic Arts\The Sims 3\* folders.

2) Errors in the registry.

If you've truly figured out that it only happens with Supernatural and Seasons, then it's going to be #2. If you want, I can quickly look over your registry settings and tell you exactly what needs to be fixed - but I'll need your help in doing so. If you could, run this command then copy and paste the information in the file created on your desktop (Sims3.reg) in a private message to me. Here's the command -- make sure you get the quotation marks: regedit /E "%userprofile%\Desktop\Sims3.reg" HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Wow6432Node\Sims
