Hello,

We didn't know that for sure though.
Did you make sure that it is indeed different? If yes, please wait for someone with windows 8 to reply.

Hello,

The Registry in Windows 8 is exactly the same as in Windows 7.
Use the [WINDOWS KEY] + [R] (Run...) command via your keyboard, to open the "Run" window. Type Regedit and then press [ENTER].

Re: SKU Sims 3

Hi,

I have problems with the SKU too. Before installing The Sims 3, I reinstalled my OS and I didn't wait for the necessary updates to be installed. I could install the game without any problems and it ran perfectly, but then I found out that because of some problems the Windows couldn't update itself. (I don't know why, nothing like that has ever happened to me.) So I started the whole thing from the beginning, I reinstalled my OS, but this time I waited for the updates and they work fine now. After all of those things, I tried to install the game, but I can't find the SKU anywhere. In the Sims folder there is only one thing, Default REG_SZ, nothing else. I've read that sometimes it can be in the Wow6432Node folder, but it's not there either. It contains only a Google folder.
I don't really understand why I can't install the game as before, since I do everything the same way.
I know you are exctremely busy with not only the site but of course with your own personal lives and I completely understand that you don't have either the time or the personnel to answer everybody immediately, but I'd really appreciate if you sent me a reply as soon as possible.
Thank you for your help in advance.
Bye,
nicky1985824

PS: I don't want you to think that I'm writhing this in order to cast reproaches on you, but I've already sent you an e-mail on 9th of January and I haven't got any reply for that.

Hello,

Admin has indeed been very busy. You'll have better luck on the forum since there are other people on the forum who can help where as Admin is the only one to reply to emails and I believe he receives a whole lot of them each day.
We'd prefer it if you open a new topic though, it'll make it easier for us to keep track of what's going on and provide more personal support.
And when you do, could you tell us where the base game came from?

Hi,

It's really quite unbelievable, but my problem solved itslelf. I've installed SP1 and after that I thought I make a last attempt on installing the game. Wonder of wonders, everything was as it should be. I had the SKU and I could install the game perfectly. My only problem now is the constant crashing and error 12, but as I've learned its a general one, even people with the original, purchased game have it, so fortunately, or maybe unfortunately, the problem is in the game itself. I hope the guys at EA figure something out soon, because it's quite annoying that we can't play smoothly.

Error 12 isn't a general error. It is a World Save Failure most often caused by lack of sufficient RAM. Error 13 is a post-save callback failure, error 15 is an access failure (read), error 16 is an access failure (write).
